About Me

By what characteristic may we know the divine forms? By beauty.--Ezra Pound

Q: So what's with the name? Why did you pick category 9 instead of some other number?

C9P: The number nine represents the ultimate limit, the supreme superlative, that which cannot be surpassed. Bringing that forward to photography, it's the reason people choose one photographer over another. They know who can deliver the goods. The 9's have it!

Q:Which professional shooters influence your work?
C9P: Mark Seliger, Marc Baptiste, David Drebin, Gordon Parks, and two guys who have proven that images don't have to be tack sharp to be excellent: David Hamilton and Anton Corbijn. Look 'em up.

Q: Do you prefer shooting color or b&w?

C9P: Everything I shoot starts out in color. Since I do my own post-production work, if I feel a particular image would lend itself better to greytones, I'll make a copy and convert it. I really like b&w, though because it reminds me of the days when I did wet darkroom work.

Q: What kind of experience can someone expect if they choose to pose for you?

C9P: They're ALWAYS treated with respect and appreciation. Models and photographers have to work HARD and have an active rapport to achieve optimum results. But that doesn't mean the shoots can't be fun for all involved.

Q: How about shooting minors?

C9P: As long as their parent or guardian grants written permission and agrees to sign a model release on their daughter's behalf. Parent(s) need to be present and on location at all times!! But yeah, if you're thinking of a career in fashion modeling, start in your early teens and develop your look and a stellar WORK ETHIC. You won't make it just because you have a pretty face (but that may be the thing that opens the door at first.)

Q: How about make-up and hair styling?

C9P: Models should plan on doing their own hair and make up unless they wish to invite and pay for their own stylist to be present. And bring the items of clothing you wish to be photographed in. (at least 3 changes). This keeps your out of pocket costs low. When you get famous all that will be done for you on someone else's dime. For now, keep it simple and within your budget!

Q: What will the model receive after the session?

C9P: Depending on the time reserved, upwards of 300-400 images will be taken. I will do a quick edit of the best (realistically about 10% of the total) and do complete post production work on the best 5 from that group which will be burned to a cd and mailed to you.
