Born in Southern Virginia, Shane Hairston stepped into the world of the arts at a very early age. At the age of twelve he performed in his first musical production with Missoula Children’s Theatre, where he would study theatre for the next five years. Shane would also begin, in his free time, writing poetry and short stories. Later, during his six years of traveling through Europe, he would acquire an interest in photography. Many of his early works were taken in European night clubs, where he ultimately found his passion for photographing people.

Shane’s fine-art portrait photography is mostly conceptual in style. He typically constructs his concepts from music, theatre, his poetry, and characters inspired by the short stories he wrote. Shane can frequently be found hand-crafting costume pieces for his projects and further developing his craft by studying at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
