Hi, I'm Dan, I'm 24, about 6'3", slim with dark hair, sometimes I dont shave, you will find a normal photo of me on my profile (uploading tonight, going to take one) this should make it easy for you to recognise me when we meet.

I like to meet usually in a public area not far from the shoot location, for example for my Gold Coast shoots, I usually shoot at Broadbeach, and usually tell my models to meet out the front of Electronics Boutique in Pacific Fair next to the upstairs food court.



I live in Brunswick Heads, I shoot on location here, and a few other places, like the Gold Coast, I shoot in a studio in Byron Bay as well.

My primary objective is create inspired imagery, I shoot for my own enjoyment to create art, and to expand my working skillset, as well as freelance and commission.

If a TFP shot has the possibility of being sold or published, etc, the model will receive a portion of any profit or benefits to be had.






Checklist
Do not leave for a shoot without the following:
Everyone's contact details.
Shoot location/studio address.
A map from google maps with directions to the studio or location.
Given your contact details to me/the rest of the team.
Comfortable and warm clothing to wear.
Closed covered shoes.
Sets of clothing and accessories needed for the shoot, and any extras that you might think may be handy if there is left over time.
Told someone where you are going.
Your phone.
A friendly attitude.

Other Information
Model Releases - Model releases and granted permission is not required for portfolio display, non-commercial publication, selling prints, or display or selling in an art gallery, they are only needed for commercial and advertising work, I will generally not require or ask for a model release unless I am doing a job for a paying client, in which case it will be a paid shoot.

Escorts - That's a big NO.

Consider this from our point of view.  We plan a shoot.  We put time the time & effort in.  We have a choice of two models.  One who wants an escort, one who doesn't.

We book the model with an escort, first off there's a bigger risk she'll no-show or flake.  Since she won't work without the escort, if he stubs his toe or gets called in to work or has a fight with the model she's not going to have an escort so she flakes.  (Unless, of course, she LIES as a model mentioned in one of these threads where she says she picked up a RANDOM GUY IN A BAR and lied about him being her boyfriend... MUCH safer.)
Second, IF she shows we have to worry that she's going to be stiff & uncomfortable either because she's terrified of us (after all she had to being someone for protection) or because she's afraid her escort will disapprove of what she's doing.  Either way, the shots are ruined.
Third, if the escort IS annoying or distracting (and this includes "offering to be helpful" or "giving suggestions and ideas") or causes a problem we have the choice of trying to ignore it and having the shots ruined, speaking up and having BOTH of them get mad at you and walking off the shoot, or stopping the shoot & throwing them out.  Again, the shoot is ruined.
Fourth, we have to be concerned about the slim, but real, possibility that the escort will assault us, rob us (as has happened to me when one put a gun in my face after a shoot), or steal from us (as has happened to a number of photographers).  You can SAY your escort's a great guy, but how do we KNOW?  We can't check him out like you can check us out.  So, while I have NO problems focusing with a crowd or around an MUA or other people who belong there, I'm not going to be able to give 100% focus with your "escort" at my back.
Fifth, on a multiple model shoot why do I want to have to worry about PHYSICALLY removing your escort (again, I've had to do this) because he's harassing the other models?

Alternatively, we hire a secure mature professional model or an intelligent and non-paranoid newcomer who is responsible & does her homework & checks us out, takes reasonable safety precautions, shows up without flaking, delivers the look we need without requiring someone there to hold her hand, and we all get great photos.

Now, not EVERY model who brings an escort will hit one of the factors in the first scenario.  But MANY will.  We have NO way of knowing which one you & your escort will be.  This is an ODDS game.  What do you think makes you so special & unique, and your look SO irreplaceable, that we would take the heightened risk & poorer odds to choose you over model # 2 who doesn't require an escort?


I'd just like to throw 2 comments out there. 
#1, all photographers are likely to be dangerous predators.  This's FALSE and the idea is demeaning to the profession of photography.  The idea of it undermines the photographer/model relationship by causing models to operate with a distrustful attitude towards photographer.

#2, all (female generally) models are helpless weak creatures who can't defend or think for themselves and need someone (a man usually) to come along & "comfort" or "protect" them on photo shoots.  That idea on the face of it is insulting to women.  I think of them as strong, capable, and able to care for themselves just fine, thank you very much.  This idea also undermines the model/photographer relationship by suggesting to photographers that the models are likely to be airheaded flakes.
