About me
Howdy!  My name is Ian and I'm sort of a jack-of-all trades.  Last December I graduated with a BFA in Music Theatre and since then have worked as a dj on a radio station, sound engineer, theatre stagehand, photographer, and will be heading out to be a janitor in Antarctica.  If you couldn't tell, I like to try new things and go new places, which certainly helps my photography.

My photographic education is slightly sparse, I became intrigued with photography in yearbook back in high school.  In college friends started noticing I always had a camera around and started asking me to do small projects.  I studied abroad for a year, took some classes at the Queensland College of Art and had the best educational experience of my life there.  I came home and now all my friends are old enough to get married so I've been doing weddings, engagement photos, along with actor's headshots, and working on a base of work for modeling, which is why I'm here!

I'm always up to try new things, and would love to work with someone that has ideas of their own!  I've always got a few, but if you have something fun and crazy I've never thought of, let me know.

I do shoot nudes, I think in a lot of situations it adds a feel and an air that wearing outfits just can't do.  Not to mention your images will look a heck of a lot less dated without the current styles.  The reason I bring it up though, is I want to work with models who are outgoing and open-minded.  If I run across your profile and it's a lot of "I won't do this" and "I won't do that" then I probably WON'T want to work with you.  But as long as you're a cool cat, even uncomfortable being nude in front of the camera, we can and will make some amazing images.

I am leaving the country September 23rd, so I'll be away until next spring, but I'll want to spend that time preparing for next year, so if you're interested, let me know!

Aha..so YOU are The Yellow Dart! oh great...that's all I need is more competition! ;) just kidding my friend. heh heh. Actually, I have already started editing your session, and they are turning out fantastic!! You certainly are a jack of all trades. Unfortunately, I have 4 sessions that come before yours, but I'm plugging away and getting to it. :) I should be in better shape in about a week, but I will definitely let you know once they are ready! Stay cool, my good man.

No I haven't yet...I have to call her again. I called her number one time this summer and left a message, but didn't hear back. I definitely want to shoot with her yet this summer or into the fall.

Ian,
thx for the pic comment. I was going for the half silhouette-half exposed look. I explained the concept to the model to get her in the right position.

Lol, yeah the secret is ... Photoshop. Heh use a nice camera take the photo in RAW, use a long lens I used a 70-200 2.8. The shots were taken just close to sunset but just as long at its not high noon it shouldn't be too different. Hopefully you can find shade. The key to the colors is a curves adjustment in photoshop, and starting out with a high quality image that is exposed correctly so you can manipulate the crap out of it in photoshop.

Actually, under a bridge is a great place to shoot. Your front and backlighting can be controlled just by moving closer to one side of the bridge or the other. And, for the record, the water was very clean. No trolls, though. ; )

Cheers,

P.

Ian, My model for that shot was competitive gymnast, she could have held the pose forever. Her comment was " You mean you just want me to stay still?" If you have the opportunity to work with someone with that skill set, jump on it.

Thank you for the pic comment. Bascially, i did that shot in 100% pure darkness. All lights off. I then shot at 15 sec exposure time. Via hand held, i manually launched a flash off the external flash. The model was sitting in a hall way in my home. I pointed the flash towards her right wall, and the light just bounced off everywhere. I then got that effect. Kinda weird huh. The bounced light also hit her bottom left cheek too.
