"I think one's art goes as far and as deep as one's love goes."
Andrew Wyeth
"A good photographer captures the subject, but a good subject captures the photographer."
I invite your comments on my work.
Models, please read this very carefully if you're considering working with me.
I'm a New Jersey based photographer who specializes in weddings, portraits, and events. I also do pregnancy portraits and intimate photography of women in private sessions for a discerning clientele. I'm a baby boomer with more than 40 years of experience in photography and other forms of visual communications. I hold a B.A. degree in art and have done some graduate work in communications. I'm still learning and growing and I continue working to expand my technical knowledge and creative vision. I'm learning quite a bit from the models and other women that I work with.
A few years ago, after nearly five years of full time public school teaching and being starved for inspiration and opportunities to practice my craft, I finally broke free to pursue my passion and live my bliss through the re-creation of my photography business. I've re-enrolled in my personal art photography, creating, among other things, fine art and editorial images that capture and express the femininity and sensuality of women in various forms, mostly tastefully done artistic nudes that celebrate rather than objectify while still exploring the realm of eroticism.
I think this tag says it best: "I love how you make nudity about natural beauty, not sexuality."
I'm not a fashion/glamour photographer and I'm not interested in creating pictures that are about wardrobe, makeup, and hair. I have no interest in porn, fetish, BDSM, gothic or anything dark, or the kinds of photos seen in Maxim and Playboy (BORING!!!). I will NOT photograph you smoking, with a gun, whip, or chains, tied up or handcuffed, pretending to masturbate, sitting on the toilet, with your panties down in "tease" position, in your dominatrix or sexy schoolgirl outfit, in a swimsuit, or in a thong sticking your butt out (unless you're paying me some serious money
). Additionally, I refuse to Photoshop your skin to the point where it looks like plastic! If you want them, I will give you clothed headshots as part of our trade, but you must handle your own hair and makeup.
I'm looking to experience mutually beneficial,
STRICTLY TFCD (unless you're paying me), creative collaborations with select models, aspiring models, and others willing to work with me as I experiment and continue to develop a collection of tasteful, classy artistic images.
I want to work with women of substance who are serious about artistic expression, who understand that nudity does not have to be about sexuality, and who are low maintenance, positive, open, dependable, conscientious, poised, largely uninhibited, creative, and patient. You'll be treated with respect and appreciation and rewarded with a selection of high quality professional images for your portfolio as we work and learn together as a creative partnership. I reserve the right to edit my work and have only the best of what I do seen publicly. Therefore, I never provide a CD of photos to a model immediately after a shoot. Sorry if you got burned by another photographer, but that's not my problem and there will be no exceptions. Also, I
never share copyrights.
I'm willing to consider all body types, especially hourglass figures, but I prefer no breast implants. I generally prefer no or minimal tattoos and body piercings (I'm especially adverse to septum and nipple hardware), but I'm willing to consider models who have more if they have other desirable qualities. I'd especially love to do more work with pregnant women. I'd also like to do more work with mature women (age 40 and over) who have a realistic body image and realistic expectations of the shoot and don't expect me to perform digital cosmetic surgery.

Although numerous disappointments should cause me to to give up on models under 30, I'm still willing to consider, on a case by case basis, reliable women who are at least 21.
More than 90% of the women that I've worked with have come to their shoot ALONE! Every one of them will tell you that you don't need one with me, and I definitely prefer that you NOT bring one, but if you feel that you must bring an escort to a shoot, be advised that I must pre-approve them and that I only tolerate the kind who sit SILENTLY in a corner (NOT within sight of the model) with their iPad or something else to occupy themselves. Any interference or unsolicited input by an escort will result in immediate termination of the shoot. And I don't deal with model managers! I also want you to know that my kitchen doubles as my studio (many of the photos in my portfolio were taken there) and I have a cat.
I'm toying with the idea of a new bodyscapes project that will be a collection of images of portions of nude female bodies across a broad range of shapes and sizes with no faces being shown. I'd especially like to include some women who wouldn't ordinarily do nudes.
With very rare exception, I will add to my friends list ONLY those models with whom I've worked or wish to work and ONLY those photographers and others whose work I greatly admire and/or with whom I feel artistic/business networking might be beneficial. My standards are high.
