About Me

I'm a pre-med student turned film student who has recently returned to school to finish up my science classes so I can apply to med school. For the past few years, I worked with the International Emmy Awards in New York City. I also shot a lot of films as a DP on 16mm, Super 16mm, 35mm, digital video and HD for students at NYU, Columbia and NYFA, which is how I got my start in still photography. I've also worked as a camera assistant, gaffer, grip and sound recordist.

I wanted to learn still photography not just for learning the darkroom, but to learn more about framing, hoping to improve the way I shoot motion picture film. To me, the way stills are composed is more critical because it's just that - still. You can't do as many fancy camera tricks or start moving the camera around to divert attention.

These days, I'm back in school, taking biochem and anatomy/physiology. I'm also Head of Photography for the NYU Modeling Club. I'm just shooting when I can, trying to hook up with new people who need a photographer or who have interesting subjects, as well as going out and working on my own. I'm currently working on a series of New York at night, as well as some of the city's abandoned subway stops.

I shoot both digitally and on film. I prefer film, at least for black & white, as I don't think digital can reproduce the look of a b&w negative. I really take pictures of everything... from portraits, fashion/glamour, street photography, landscapes/nature... and even pets. Animals can be very photogenic! All in all, I'm comfortable shooting many different styles. I also shoot on infrared film, which if you've never worked with it, is a pretty cool look.

Enjoy my work and feel free to contact me if you'd like to know more.
