Photographing "life in the theatre and the theatricality of life"
I am a college professor and stage director with over 20 years of promotional and archival theatre photography. Although I do often charge for my work, I try not to get so distracted by the
business of photography that I lose sight of the creative art. These days, I am working towards producing photo art compelling or interesting enough for gallery display, and in the quest to develop my own artistic vision, I am very willing to help others – models, MUAs, clothing designers, etc. – develop theirs. So if you have a great TF* project, don't be afraid to ask! (see TFCD below)
Rates
I have a proven record in actor headshots, and my rates for these are very affordable, beginning at $150 for a basic 2-look shoot on location (2 retouched 8x10 images ready for printing). Studio shots are possible, but may add to the cost, depending on the extent of the square footage ("head only" is cheap or free, but with full-body coverage or ornate sets the cost of materials & labor can start to mount).
Other rates range from $75/hour to $500/day for model books, groups, etc. Basic photoshop retouching = $20 per image; graphic/artistic photoshop treatment = $35/hour. Special discounts for non-profit organizations, extended/multiple shoots, and anyone with a good project idea (see TFCD below).
TFCD:
I will always consider TFCD for an interesting and creative project, especially with someone who comes recommended, although my time is somewhat limited for non-paying shoots during the academic year. I try to provide a CD wherever possible on the day of the shoot, and send along retouched images through email promptly. I maintain professional standards, even with non-paying projects.
Travel:
For a good project, I will travel in the central Florida area (Tampa to Ocala to St. Augustine to Melbourne). I have portable studio equipment and can shoot on location. If travel is very extensive, I may ask for gas money.
Friending:,
I am a very friendly person, but not very status-oriented, so I am not into collecting Friends.
I will only friend someone who I’ve worked with, or who sends me a message, tag or pic comment - in other words, someone who actually wants to communicate.
PS: If you like my work, please let me know - everybody needs a little appreciation

My publicity photos for theatre productions have been regularly published in many, many newspapers, including the Orlando Sentinel, Daytona Beach News-Journal, Chicago Tribune, Toledo Blade, Cleveland Plain Dealer, and more. My production photos also appear in various professional theatre journals.
