"Shaman High Priestess" for "WildeBeauty, by Julian James Wilde, @2009
"And like a Renaissance painter, I am haunted by the knowledge that ultimately I cannot do my sleeping muse justice. Still my hands do hunger to touch this beautiful stranger before me, and to have the satisfaction that only hands may have. I desire to feel the deep healing power of my hands upon her emerald-smooth skin. To appreciate the wonder and the mysteries of this pale land of twilight and shadow. I long to traverse the low-lying snow kissed hills, to wander like a pilgrim thru the forested valley, to pull back gently the dark velvet hood of the night... And yet, I cannot bring myself to trespass upon the sanctity of this shining moment. No longer tethered to my form, I look back upon my body lying there... innocent and fragile, like a child. So for now, I hang in the cool sparkling air like a winged creature, protecting the form below me, riding an unseen wind." -JULIAN Excerpted from "The Fine Art of Dreaming" by Julian James Wilde, © 2009.
"Hello Kitty!" By the amazing Miss Novella. MM # 160954
I joined MM about a year ago to network internationally with other photogs, stylists and models concerning a few projects I'm self-producing this year. As you peruse my port you'll see some of my personal work and photography books/DVD's represented. "Entourage," The Fine Art of Dreaming," "NightVision," and "WildeBeauty"are scheduled to wrap by the end of the year--and before the Holidays!
"Exodus" for "The Fine Art of Dreaming" by Julian James Wilde, @ 2009
"Portrait of a Princess in Her Bedroom," for "The Fine Art of Dreaming." @ Julian James Wilde. 2009.
If you see a project that looks interesting and you believe you have something special to contribute, msg me and let's talk.
This is the recently shot cover of my new fine art "coffee table book" titled "The Journey Collection." The model is the amazing Kahren Novella, a friend and a constant inspiration. Kahren... I've come to appreciate and luv your work more and more. Thank you Sweetie.
"Dangerous Beauty," from "WildeBeauty."
If there isn't a project that will benefit all involved, then you paying me really isn't going to make it more interesting for me. In this scenario, I would have a tendency to pass. The way I look at it is, either our talents and our interests compliment each other... or they don't.
"Welcome to the Party," with Lady Evangeline and Sir Andrew. For "Entourage" by Julian James Wilde, @2009
"Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love, it is better that you should sit at the gates of the temple and take alms from those who work with joy!" -Kahlil Gibran, from one of the most wondrous works of literature of all-time, "The Prophet."
O.K. I admit it: I'm an Architectural Junkie! The Perfect Shoot? Paris Vogue meets Architectural Digest. Everybody wins! ;-)
"A heady and sumptuous mix of fashion, high-end glamour and beautifully styled drama. Our James Bond could have lived in [his] photographs. Great respect for outstanding work. " Roger Mann, Photographer/Designer, U.K. MM # 719711 Thanks Roger. No slouch yourself! ;-) -Julian
"As an artist and more importantly as a human being... I am not here to judge anyone. I am here to appreciate. And I do fully appreciate to the height of my abilities." -Julian James Wilde, From "WildeBeauty"
Shea, it was a marvel, watching you blossom as a model this summer! Know that we are so proud of you.
Virtually Everything you see in this port was photographed in my downtown Portland studio. Simply put, it's a 10,000 sq ft Turn-of-the-century Period quality "playhouse" that allows me unlimited opportunities for shooting and creating. Obviously, I very rarely leave town for work. ;-)
I work with 3 in-house talented MUA’s and a Wardrobe Stylist (Raven Wilde Style). Their rates are very reasonable considering their talent, experience and their ability to read my mind. If you to use them, you will be very happy. If you do not... well, let's not go there.
"The Lady and Sir Ruben" from "The Fine Art of Dreaming," Book and DVD by Julian James Wilde, copyright 2009.
I work occasionally in Seattle and San Francisco, but my primary studio is in picturesque downtown Portland-- where my beautiful wife and I are known to throw memorable parties in our historic and ridiculously fun Italian Renaissance ballroom studio. Again, the "locations" you see here--are actually "my studio."
One other thing, I don't add "friends" unless I feel something friendly. Feel free to tag or comment first. Warm fuzzy's welcomed. Thanks!
If perchance, you are 20 minutes late for an interview or a shoot--and you do not call--I will consider the appt canceled. No hard feelings.
The chances of getting a second appt under these circumstances are nil to void.
"We are human only in the the sense that we play. For we touch the divine and we are our most human when we play for no reason." -Julian Wilde
A SPECIAL NOTE TO MODELS: when considering that prickly question of "who is gonna charge who?"
One of the things to consider is YOUR BOOK and the PHOTOGRAPHER'S BOOK.
"Thank you so much Julian Wilde. You are an amazing person that will accomplish everything you desire because of your talent, creativity and your commitment as well. I really don't know what to say other than Thank You from the bottom of my heart. Julian, you are a star in the night shining on everything and everyone. Thank you so much!" -Jennifer Fulfer, MM #521345 (Jenn, you are so welcome! And more than I can say. -JULIAN)
Outside of us all being a little subjective about our work, our books are the "hard facts."
A general rule of thumb is: the one with the better portfolio is in a better position to charge for their services.
That may not sound like the perfect world, but is a position that can be justified by a reasonably sane person.
There are exceptions of course, and as we all know: it's the exceptions that make the world go round!
"Your not quite there yet... your not at my level. Trust me, for you... I'm trouble." -Seen on a NYC model's site. Gotta luv that stuff. ;-)
"Are you experienced enough to shoot with me?" I'm really not at all concerned whether you've shot with 100 photographers or this is your first shoot. The only thing that concerns me is what I feel your capable of in My studio. That's it.
Not to worry about my pet Peacock. "Handsome Bob" is always happy to model, and although he does have some attitude, he is really quite harmless!
And lastly, the "nudes" on my site are really only here to scare off the timid. ;-)
Breathe deep. And Smile. It’s a Beautiful Day!

My Mom says I’m sweet!
Beyond that, I owe everything to Raven--my angel, the love and the light of my life. Without her support, inspiration and love, I wouldn't be able to accomplish a fraction of what I've done over the last couple of years. My success would not only have been diminished--but there would be no joy in it for me. Raven, "you are, and have always been The One."

"Being a photographer is something like being born a songbird or a zebra. It's not something you try to be. It's something you are. And even though you strive to become better with each day you are given, you cannot change that essential part of yourself. No more than a zebra can change it's stripes." -Julian James Wilde
"Dunes of Malabar", from
"The Dream Oracle"
"Julian Wilde's work is absolutely stunning. Not only is he one of the most amazing photographers, but his "eye" and sense of style really captures a look and creates a moment."
Tim Peirson, Cast of Thousands Studio, MM#795387
"Wilde's work is phenomenal and incredibly sensual. He succeeds in ways that is far beyond making photographs; his work takes hold of the viewer and transports them into a story--which stirs the senses beyond the visual and gives meaning and reason to art." - Mindzeye Photography, MM# 83790
"Julian Wilde's photography is at a level few will ever reach." -Will Le Blanc, Photographer, WJL Studio, New York, MM# 163271
"The photography of Julian Wilde is art that flows. Always elegantly beautiful and seductive. Captivating and sublimely decadent." -Contessa Black
