I am a photographer and visual artist in Ottawa, Canada. Photography has been a hobby of mine for over 30 years (bought my first SLR in 1975) and I have recently begun photographing the nude figure. I also run a weekly life drawing (figure drawing) studio for local artists. Many of my models are artists' models who have agreed to be photographed. I usually like to draw before I shoot (sorry, I'm a terrible punster).

In my photography I try to create simple compositions that portray the beauty and grace of the human body and/or suggest a story (with all details left to the viewer's imagination). My objective is to produce artistic images with a sense of drama, mystery or movement, rather than images in which the erotic element is paramount. I seek models who will bring their own ideas and imagination to the set for an artistic collaboration. Sometimes we may plan and discuss specific poses in advance; other times we may start with some general ideas and let things flow.

I like to experiment and try things which may or may not work. I may spend a lot of time adjusting lights for one particular shot, or I may shoot many frames rapidly while a model moves around. My goal is to produce pictures than will look good framed and hanging in an art gallery, not just as images on the web.

I have joined MM to exchange ideas and tips with other photographers, meet new models and develop my portfolio. I am open to TFP (Time for Pictures) with models who like my style and who want similar photos for their portfolios, and I sometimes pay models whom I contact for particular projects. If you have a repertoire of interesting poses, can sit very still for an hour or so and don't mind being au naturel in front of about a dozen artists (we're a friendly bunch), I may also hire you for life drawing.
