I hope my comments aren't too confusing.. I myself am confused and slightly dazed by your port but in a good way. Hehe, that's awesome :) I seem to remember the houses are right on the roadside aren't they?
One of the nights whilst I was up there I think we went for a meal or something, to a restaurant right next to some water (I can't remember whether it was the sea or a big lake lol!), but we took a stroll down a narrow road afterwards, and I remember there was some quite nice houses down there, and one of them had all sorts of little sculptures and bits of artwork outside of it in the garden, it was like a little fairytale garden! :) I found it rather beautiful...
I actually went into that graveyard, and had a cup of tea in the cafe by the abbey too :)
I love old cemeteries, have you ever been to Highgate in London?
Btw, I'm happy to see you draw your inspiration from such talented artists! Are you familiar with Josephine Wall or Brian Froud?

I just noticed that you were based in Dumfries, it's beautiful up there! I went a couple of years ago for my grans 70th, and was fascinated with Sweethearts Abbey...
I may also be up in Glasgow sometime in the spring to see a friend, so I'll keep you posted!
