Interview With an Artist is a website dedicated solely to interviews with photographers and those involved in the photography industry. With these interviews I am avoiding the all too common "fluff and puff" interviews that seem so prevalent today.

I am not interested in the type of equipment these artists use or what their theory on lighting might be; I am talking candidly with them about the motivations behind their work. I want to know what makes them who they are and why they do what they do.

My Thoughts on Photography is a blog that I recently started in order vent and sort through my own thoughts on Photography.
Beauty is overrated. Beauty is boring. True beauty can be found in imperfection.
My name is Tim Morehead and I am a photographer.
Although I make my living shooting weddings, recently I have been focusing my efforts on fine art portraiture and artistic nudes. Many photographers may disagree with me, and even though I do strive to be technically correct, I do not believe that technical proficiency is always an important factor in a photograph. I would rather capture the mystery, emotion and beauty of the moment. In my most recent work, I try to represent the two opposing elements in all of us -- the light and the dark, the good and the evil, triumph and tragedy. These two opposing elements are not always in equal measure. The two elements may not even be immediately apparent to the viewer. However, the tension created by the two factors creates a contrast and enhances the beauty of the work.
It has been said that my portfolio looks as if it has been shot by many different photographers - it has, but they are all me. Life is fluid, every day I am gradually changing and as I change the way that I see and interpret subjects also change. As a photographer, I struggled with myself for many years thinking that I needed a defining style but I have long since let that pass.
I very seldom make a photograph that doesn't have a person in it - people interest me,
real people interest me immensely. With all of my images I try to show the spirit that resides in each and every living person, sometimes it may not be easy to look at, it may be all about anguish and pain, but sometimes, it is so light hearted or humorous that you can't help but smile.
If you ever have the opportunity to watch me shoot you will notice that some days I am boisterous and animated while other days I may be very quiet and reserved. Some days it is like I am a maestro conducting a symphony orchestra and other days it is like I am a musician that plays music by ear. I let the situation tell me how it should be handled.
Am I the best photographer in the world? Not even close.
Am I the worst photographer in the world? Not by a long shot.
I lie somewhere in between and just exactly where that that may be is for you to determine.
If you like my work - great. If not, that is fine also, I am not here trying to please everyone. However, if you do like my imagery or find it intriguing and you would like to know more, please don't hesitate to give me a shout.

Models Read this, it is Important
I hate to do this but...... If you are going to be late for a shoot call me. If I have not heard from you before 15 minutes after the start time - Consider the Shoot to be Canceled.
I am very laid back and extremely easy to get along with but I have had enough. My studio is located 35 miles from my home; that is 70 miles round trip and a total driving time of 1 hour and 26 minutes.
Get a studio closer to home you say - my studio is located conveniently in Denver for you, not for me.
Please note - if you contact me to book a shoot I require a $50 deposit through PayPal. This deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable and it has nothing to do with our TFP agreement; it is a booking fee. Contact me for my TFP terms and conditions.
If you do flake on me there is a strong chance that we will never work together in the future.
BTW, I do not consider someone who acts professionally and contacts me to cancel to be a flake.
***At the moment I am seeking a muse. If you are passionate about creating art and feel that you are a source of inspiration, let's talk.
Please view my website for more photos - the link is beside my avatar photo at the top of this page.
