My background is in filmmaking. I studied for 3 years at one of Europe's better film schools, where I made a number of short films, docs, and spec ads on every format from 16mm (color and b&w) to Super 16 mm to 35 mm (colour and b&w) to the Red Camera. Since graduating a year and a half ago I’ve worked as a freelance filmmaker in London and my hometown of Vancouver.

My interest in still photography has grown recently, and I have joined MM with the aim of finding models who, like me, are looking for creative and exciting people to work with. My experience with still photography is limited, though my experience and knowledge of the related discipline of cinematography should serve me well.

I would like to experiment with a variety of different styles and aesthetics, but I adore the film-noir look and feel. I love everything about it from the camera angles and the lighting to the clothing, the colours, the shades of grey, and, as with Jean-Pierre Mellville’s beautiful Le Samourai, colours as shades of grey. Mostly, I love the faces.

I will update this space as I go. For the time being let me finish by noting that the photos on my profile are screengrabs from a 35 mm b&w film I directed. The framing of these shots is mine but the lighting isn’t. (At least not directly. I was very happy with the collaboration with my DP and the finished product.)
