About Me

Since 2012, Michael Taylor is the President of Fashion Design Center; an incubator to cultivate and nurture new and existing design talent. There are three entities’ under one roof; mt design school, a two year fashion, certificate program, Arian Chanlè, a designer price point dress collection, and Vision Couture Bridal, a couture price point bridal collection.

Michael Taylor was the President of MICHAEL NEW YORK*NEW YORK, a
design company specializing in women’s and men’s custom fit, designer garments; in
outerwear, sportswear, active sportswear, suiting, and evening—special occasion.

Michael’s designs are innovative—always reflecting the changes in fashion, while maintaining the quality required in designer garments. Michael believes clothes today should be fashionable, comfortable, and easy to wear.
When creating a collection, Michael likes to use quality fabrics that move easily and travel well. Crisp cottons, tropical wool, crepes, silks and cashmere are just some of Michael’s choices in designing made to measure designs.
Michael has an extensive background in fashion, having worked for Arthur McGee, the first notable African – American designer on 7th Avenue who, for many, serves as a mentor for aspiring designers. He as traveled to the Far East for global mass production, including Hong Kong and China. Michael was an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design, Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and has held chief designer positions to head pattern maker on Seventh Avenue, including designing exclusively for the THOMAS JONES label, featuring cocktail dresses and dinner suits. CUSTOM FURS (Verrici) has enlisted Michael’s expertise for six seasons to design their leather outerwear collection. Many of their best-selling designs begin at MICHAEL NEW YORK*NEW YORK.
Michael’s other credits include features in Essence, EM (Ebony Man), and Black Elegance magazines. In 1991, Lady Pindling, spouse of the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, recognized Michael’s talents and commissioned him to design and executes her daughter’s wedding gown. As a result of this important work, he was feature as Designer of the Month in the Bahamian newspaper. The highly publicized wedding elevated Michael’s career to an entirely new level.
