About Me

Passionately devoted to producing delightful creative works, California-born photographer and polymath Christopher C. Lee stands out for his ability to capture timeless moments through his craft.

His initial immersion into various urban cultures brought a profound awareness of fashion, street art, and design ethics. The brainchild of his lifestyle efforts resulted in streetwear label and movement, Troo Wear (www.troowear.com).

Represented as a Certified Professional Photographer through PPA (Professional Photographers of America) and NYIP (New York Institute of Photography), his commercial work includes broadcast production with Sky News Australia, and collaborations with Google, Microsoft, Airbnb, Dropbox, YouTube, and more. He participated in the videography of Axent Wear, a headphones start-up by the celebrated artist Yuumei, raising over $3,000,000 in funds and achieving over 500,000 views on YouTube.

His founding of the media production studio, Photomochi (www.photomochi.com), further established masterful imagery in creative projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and he is also featured on Forbes, Entrepreneur, Yahoo, and Medium Noteworthy.

Christopher dedicates himself to respectful collaboration with creative peers, with a large network of professional artists that he tirelessly supports.

He enjoys amiable, introspective chats with friends and approaches his work the same way that he greets folks - sincerely and true to the heart.

INTRODUCTION:

I actually first started off with a love for streetwear. My 90’s upbringing infused a healthy appreciation of graffiti artists, streetwear labels, and skater culture throughout my angsty teenage years. Growing up I wanted to own a streetwear brand of my very own. So as a kid I saved up and bought my very first 4 color process printer, then began designing and grinding out tee shirts.

I initially sold to friends and at a local Tapioca Express cafe, where a nice owner allowed me to set up a pop up shop next to his entrance. From there I eventually opened an online website/shop and social media pages, attended more streetwear conventions, etc. Over the years my audience grew and grew and the brand became more of a lifestyle.

I branched off into designing jackets, jeans, hats, and more. The culmination of these efforts resulted in Troo Wear, the brainchild of my fashion ideas.

What does this have to do with photography? Well, I needed catalog and lookbook photos. I didn’t have a handy assistant 24/7 so I simply bought a camera and did the shoots myself. Where did I find my first models? Everywhere, really. From friends to complete strangers. It was a fun and thrilling experience to break out of my day-to-day life routine and talk to folks out of the blue who shared common artistic interests. When everyone comes together to create something beautiful, it’s truly a magical moment.

Later I found a happy marriage with Model Mayhem where I was able to efficiently search for, contact, and work with other models who needed my work for their portfolio.

As I matured my graphic design and photography throughout college, I started other interests. I joined a dance group called AFX Dance and performed on stage. I photographed their dance event and created a concept varsity jacket for AFX Dance from Troo Wear through a collaboration effort.

Later, some of my dancer friends asked me to record a dance music video for them to use as a showcase for acceptance into competitions, etc. After this first amateur dance video project, I fell in love with cinematography. These dancer friends later became a wildly popular group, performing in one of the largest dance venues ever: World of Dance Bay Area. They are called Identity X.

Soon, I began to design new clothing just so I could do more shoots. Every time I looked at a painting or a photograph or a film I instinctively analyzed the lighting, composition, visual storytelling, etc. and could do so for hours on end.

Then the lightbulb went off in my head, the dots connected, I realized how much I loved photography and film, and shouted “Eureka!”

From that day forth I dedicated my life to professional photography.

I seek to capture the moments that make people feel alive.

I seek to refine and perfect the timeless beauty and grace that every individual has in himself/herself.

I seek to respectfully and professionally collaborate with my peers to leave a photographic legacy, however great or small, as long as it is fondly remembered.

COLLABORATION GUIDELINES:

As of 2020, I have hit my 13th year of photography.

I specialize in:

1. Fashion - i.e. streetwear catalog and lookbook
2. Event Photography - i.e. comic conventions / dance showcases
3. Portraiture - i.e. Linkedin photos, group photos, headshots, etc.
4. Landscape - i.e. travel photography during my trips to Taiwan and Japan

I am a down-to-earth, genuine person. I am respectful of my peers, operate efficiently, conduct myself professionally and get straight to business. Though I like to test my creative boundaries in photography and design, I am conservative and traditional in my attitude. I like what I like, don’t like what I don’t like, and wear my heart on my sleeve. I am always optimistic and would rather take the “what could be” route rather than the “what isn’t” route.

I very much live by the “treat others how you’d like to be treated” concept and am looking for models that believe in the same.

I enjoy working with peers who have these qualities:

1. Patient and respectful (it takes time and energy to setup the overall lighting and design of the scene)
2. Sense of humor (makes the shoot go by like a gentle breeze)
3. Attention to detail
4. Humble and follows instructions

TFP opportunities are limited, but will consider it if the creative theme is unique. Extra compensation for a model will be considered based on experience (please be reasonable when comparing the value of your work with mine).

I may seem younger than most photographers you work with. Don’t worry about it.

For paid:

1. Hourly rate up to 10 hours.
2. If more than 10 hours, photography sessions will be flat rate packages.
3. If long-distance travel is required, all travel expenses must be covered.
4. All physical prints, albums, clothing, etc, can be custom made. Message me for details.

You can also contact me directly at [email protected]

All my online photos are copyrighted by the U.S. Copyright Office. This will happen for future work as well. Unless there is a specific work-for-hire agreement between us, please ask permission for usage.

Restrictions:

1. I do not date peers who collaborate with me on a professional project. Don’t ask.
2. I do not shoot nudes. Don’t ask.

RANDOM FUN FACTS:

1. My favorite style of dance is popping.
2. I very much like jazz.
3. I enjoy chicken noodle soup. I also dig lasagna.
4. I am fascinated with the cosmos, stars, and planets.
5. I am an introvert. I scored an INFJ on the Myer-Briggs test.
6. I love deep, heart-to-heart discussions of life philosophies.
