I can't believe it, I got a message the other day from a random person I talk to online, saying that someone might be using my photos. Check this out:

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu … 1093062046

I can't believe it! She said she hates "people that use other people! UGH! I work part time as a model.. not as cool as it sounds, but it pays for school though"
She made up a fake agency
She goes to a school in the same city I live in, weird!
What should I do?

The editor of myspace will delete the account. just write to the editor and they will remove the profile.

Contact myspace and they will take care of it.  They probably won't delete the account but the pictures will be removed.

you can put marks on your photos. so if anyone uses them you can get a list of where your images are at. This is really simple.

Myspace will delete the imposter account if you just send them a picture of yourself holding up a myspace sign. Just scribble "my space" on a piece of paper and hold it in front of yourself in a photo and send it to them. If they recognise it's you they will delete the imposter.

Assuming you are on myspace as well.

That's a great idea (to take a photo of myself with a myspace sign).
How do you put marks on your photos?

I agree with everyone else. Plus, I'd post bulletins on my space that she's a FRAUD & send the same message to many in her friends list on there.

And if you are on other modeling sites, I post the same bulletins on their forums too.

Fraud is fraud & impersonating someone is a serious offense. To protect yourself, perhaps you may want to think about contacting the local police & filing an official complaint. That way, if she ever does more, at least there is a record that you tried to fix the problem within your legal limits.

Above all, be & stay safe,
Blessings, Ayla

That is the myspace way of proving your identity. I can't take credit for  it. The imposter will have a hard time duplicating that proof.

BTW, thanks for your comment, and you are a cutie.

Just for fun, I would write on the sign, "Dear myspace: Katie is a LIAR."

I had that happen with Yahoo personals.  YES, someone was running my pictures to try and meet women.

I contacted Yahoo and had to fax a copy of my drivers license (I blacked out everything but my name on the copy) so they new I was the actual person in the photos.

Usually, I fax the webhost and/or the site itself, if they share enough contact info, a DMCA-compliant copyright infringement notice.  Stuff gets taken down REALLY fast.

Here's the template I use:
http://www.josienutter.com/thieves.txt

But I'm tellin' ya-- as soon as I started watermarking all of my images, this type of crap almost stopped happening completely.  Yeah, watermarks "detract from the overall beauty of the image" (blah blah smile) but they do deter people from trying to do things like this (or worse! I found my unmarked photos on an ESCORT SITE once!).

perfect example and someone in the many threads on this subject tonight asked why worry,  why bother, ... well I think that is why.

My print books do not have them even though I have caught people copying my images from my print book.( lame ass people and not art directors)

I used to hate, hate,  hate,  watermarks 9 months ago and maybe in 4 months I will again but I think photographers and models are wise to use them.

Sharon,
That happens to me a lot. Don't know why. I finally just started to look at it as flattery. I guess they like my look. LOL Stuff like that is going to happen on the web. My face was even a Swedish flight attendent one time. You'd think they would be better looking than me, huh?

Damnit, her account was deleted and before she added me as a friend so I could publically humiliate her.
Ah well, I'm glad to see that's been taken care of.
