Hey moderators... I noticed as I scanned down many of the posts in the various forums, that some of the threads are locked, with no capability of posting additional messages on the topic, and many are locked with very few (and even only one) message on the thread.  What determines which threads get locked, and which ones dont?  It honestly can't be 'the controversial' element, as (in my opinion) many threads have gone pretty wildly out of control.  A heads up please... thanks!

Generally, I'll lock a thread when the conversation has broken down with no meaningful dialogue happening, and this may occur after one posting or after 200. It may be inflammatory language, it may be unnecessary or against the rules, may be overtly derogatory, may consist of personal attacks or it may simply be a topic that's been covered so much, there's really nothing original left to say.

I'll lock you, Eric!

I locked a thread because the poster had posted duplicate threads. I'm pretty permissive: just ask my cats.

(in the voices of Lenny& Sqiggy)

Hello,

Marksora and Hanachan here.

(at least I make myself laugh so **** all you Puritants)

Coming from the one who like to stop chaos sometimes,  push to the truth sometimes, but never just to see people fight.

sometimes a thread is just done.  Too much fighting,  too much ego,  too much brainless idiot(like me),  too much much,

The boards are open are free.  Please, Please remember that.

One is always open to ask the question again in a week.

One is always open to argue.

One is always free to quote from any previous post unless the person in question has edited the original post.
(I will bring this last point up in the thread questionable behavior in the about this site section.)

Some people do not let it go.

I had an arguement with another photographer last week or so.

No disrespect intended but I just thought she was offensive.

She thought I was.  .....????? ... !!!!>>>

I do not have the answer.  Do you?

I believe the photographer and I have made a pleasant peace.

Time heals.

I have more but you do not care.

That is the way I see it.

Honestly I think the original question was a bit loaded but I just got back from having dinner with 3 ex-G-friends at once.  Yes,  3 at once.  Beat that.

I am loaded.  Sure the Puritants will complain about me tomorrow but I speak the truth.

good luck finding that these days.

I do hate posts that are a case of Mai dtem baht's.

It is Thai for ??? .  I am lazy tonight so goggle it and learn.

But also on the Mai dtem baht comment.

King lear was killed for speaking the truth.

I guess it would be nice if the last post said something from the moderator on why they locked it, like I thought such and such had smelly feet and they were obviously typing with their feet so I didn't want any smelly boards or some such,

(must type with feet, hands are busy :-)

Wait a minute, I thought Lear lost pieces of himself for speaking the truth, he died cause he was an idiot who let the one person who spoke the truth to him go, and kept the vipers who stroked his ego. I never liked Lear, too much ego, not enough compassion.

so close to a quote, not quite getting it

"ask not the (why?, wherefor, means?)"

Why not just delete the post all together? It's just taking up space.

'cause tyler hasn't built that function into the site. I guess I could jetison it into the abyss, but it still takes up space there.

see, mark? the answer wasn't so hard.
