Either that or I treat my job as a professional.

This is work, not play.

There’s always one or two ‘nutbars’ out there. They figure that a nude model is an easy mark and should be easy bedding material – so sad.

I’ve only been outright sexually hit on a couple of times and propositioned maybe 10 times over my 15 years of modeling. If I were a secretary in some office somewhere I don’t think this would have been any different.

- I like that you are short, and that I can use your head as a coffee cup holder
- I'll bring a ladder so you can at least look me in the eyes
- I like PORN
- I'm a Diva and will make your life hell, lets' shoot!

Just because a photographer wants to go grab a bite to eat or meet with you outside of a shoot doesn't mean they want to have sex with you.   This is my life, and I like to hang out with other photographers, videographers, models, musicians, dancers, MUA's or just about anyone in the entertainment industry.  Sometimes we spend long hours shooting and working together so it only comes natural to want to eat.

I like to meet with models I have not met in person before if it is at all possible.  Unbelievable as this may seem to many of you, I have NEVER had a "flake" that was a complete no show/call on a shoot in the 25 years of shooting.  I've written about the methods I use, and one of those is to meet the models at a coffee shop for a preshoot meeting.  The only "no shows/calls" have happened with those meetings.   Obviously I never work with those who didn't show up to that.

Most of the shoots I do involve multiple people.  So if it's critical to get the shoot done, I book back up models and have them ready if the main model calls in sick or something.  Not to be mean, but anyone I work with knows that I can replace them quickly.  So they are more likely to show up!  I'm generous and treat people well, so most people who get to know me ... want to be there!

It's mostly the "one on one" situations that these photographers try to pick up on you?  That is where the confusion and miscommunication can happen.  I don't know what they say to you, but it could be that "one on one" makes it seem more like a "date" when two people go some where to eat.  They might think it's more intimate, and you need to set them straight if it's just a friendly get together.

But he became a totally different person once we started shooting....The shoot was implied nude.......Wht he did to me scared me & pissed me off so bad.....That i dont really do implied nude anymore

Seriously??

Is it really that fucking hard to just walk out of the damn shoot?

Paid or not, if you are at a shoot and you are uncomfortable beyond what you're willing to put up with, just fucking leave. Walk out. Vamoose. Gehen Sie aus. Scram.

It's NOT a difficult thing to do. If a photographer or WHOEVER at the shoot is acting inappropriately, walk to your stuff, gather it up, get dressed, and walk out the door. You don't have to say a single word. JUST LEAVE.

Ugh.

I've shot with 200+ photographers in the last 2 years. I've had to tell someone to back off maybe 3?4? times? and I've walked out on ONE shoot.

Go into it with a no bullshit policy. If they hit on you, look at them and tell them "no"... and leave it at that.

I'll even cook you dinner... you know just showing you my gratitude for such a great shoot..."

Oh yeah... and the ones that don't want you to bring an escort only because in the back of their minds they want to try their hand at getting you to sleep with them after or even during the shoot!

And then when you play them, they go after your close personal friends... but little do they know your close personal friends are even crazier than you. LOL

OK... just had to get that off my chest.

thanks for listening.

The only time I see this happen is when you listen and dont bring an escort. If a photog doesnt want you to have one, then dont work with them. I incourage those I work with to bring the person they feel most safe and comfortable around therefore making better photos.

And I know male photogs who are the biggest pervs but keep it professional, the people you got asked by arent professional so dont work with them.

I agree, Engel.  If you're not comfortable with something, use your words and say so.  If whatever you're uncomfortable with keeps happening, use your legs and leave.  Don't wait for your CD to be burned, don't give hugs on the way out, don't say anything.  Just.  Leave.  Not fucking rocket science.

I've walked out of one shoot.  That photographer did not understand "I'm uncomfortable with that idea", so I said, "you know what, I need to go now" and I left.  He didn't try to stop me, didn't bitch at me, and even sent me the CD of images we had shot.

Since then, I have had maybe 3 photographers suggest something I'm not comfortable doing.  Not one of them pushed me when I said, "I'm not comfortable with that".  I have worked with at least 2 of them since then, and have not had a single problem.

I know a lot of models who have boyfriends or husbands that are photographers.

I, myself was married to a model.

I learned a long time ago what the REAL problem is...

"If a photographer comes on to a model, it's only a problem if the photographer is not attractive".

Having said that...

I always offer dinner after a shoot. I'm usually pretty hungry and I think it's only polite to offer. How this is handled is all in how you present yourself. Usually, we're going over the pics while we're eating and I have never had a model complain about it afterwards.

In any business, not just the modeling business, attractions happen. Over 50% of marriages are people who met at work. If you're not interested, just say so but to get all bent out of shape over it is simply not worth it. It's the way of the world and can happen at any job.

If he persists and it becomes harrassment, that's a different story...THEN you have a reason to be pissed.

Funny, I've worked with many female models, many of them have slept on my couch.  I can't imagine how I'd EVER molest all of them if they had an escort.  Of course, they've all left my place unmolested and alive.  (Though some of them with whip marks).

Funny how that works.

Even funnier how my images are STILL great, no escort at all.

Wtf? So you're bitching about photographers wanting to hook up with you (start checking references and doing your homework if you don't want to work with people like that) but then also implying that you DO in fact, hook up with them, and then they ditch you and go for your friends?

At that point, it's not the photographer, it's just another guy and you being reckless and getting used.

Elizabeth! DAMN GOOD REPLY! My thoughts exactly. Being reckless, not being assertive and choosing the wrong guys to take pictures with.

Please, PLEASE... NOT another "Photographers want to have sex with me" forum. God save us all from the redundancy.

Another thing ... just as there are some "photographers" who try to have sex with the models, there are also so called "models" who offer themselves up for sex.  It's a two way street.  How you answer such proposals indicates just how "professional" you are.  Sometimes it answers what profession you are in too!  tongue
