How do you create fantasy backgrounds in Photoshop?

which version do you have?
i have cs4 extended and im a major photoshop junkie.
the background on my avi is all photoshop. nothings real except for me. i had to have a little fun.
what type of background did you have in mind?
i also have a friend whos really artistic and goes to the savahnna art college in georgia
he has a profile on deviantart.com

Lot's of ways. Check out Bert Monroy. His work is very interesting for digital artists.

several layers in different blend modes... used a picture of a campfire on two layers in different blend modes, with some masks. used the filter that renders clouds to make some haze in there as well. there are alot of good tutorials out there on this. google is your friend. you will have to just play around as different effects work well on some pics, but not others... its really a lot of trial and error, but quite fun!

That's what I have & there's nothing wrong with it.  There are a lot of hidden tools, but I suppose that's every version.
