Technique help
I absolutely love the feel and effect of this image, but have yet to be able to replicate the effect myself. I have experimented with photo filters and desaturating the image, but have yet to see an exact match. Any ideas or tutorials that any of you could offer would be most appreciated. Cheers Jun 02 09 01:16 pm Link Have a background layer that is B&W and then overlay it with a color layer but turn down the opacity, probably to 50% or so. Hope that helps. Jun 02 09 01:19 pm Link I'll bet this guy could tell you: https://www.modelmayhem.com/96411 EDIT: Looking at the boob mirror I see three lights. Frontal key slightly above camera. The one CR is hotter and harder and likely bare. IN PS? I dunno. A good bit of green and desaturated reds, it seems for the colors. DnB on the face. . Jun 02 09 01:39 pm Link Philipe is a lot like me, he has a very particular style and that style is the fullpackage. He actually does almost everything himself. He does the make-up and hair, he pulls the wardrobe, and he also does the post production. This is a case that if you aren't the photographer, you aren't going to get that image. However if you want to come to him as a hair stylist and pay him for lessons on his signature style I am pretty much sure he will do that. He may also be available to be hired as a retoucher. Jun 02 09 01:54 pm Link I think that Philipe is a genius, and I love his signature style. I pulled this image for the fact that it an amazing example of a clean desaturated fashion shot. I have seen lots like this. It's more the photoshop effect that I'm interested in. The subject matter of the picture could be anything. You may get close, but a 'signature style' is created from start to finish with lights, models, makeup, hair, photograph, and post work. Anything short of replicating each and every move perfectly will prevent Jun 02 09 03:31 pm Link David Robin Munn wrote: The thing is it is all him. Here is a shot of mine, of the same model, but with me trying to incorporate more of Philipe's color signature into it. It was not one thing I did, but hundreds of small things. And it is not a perfect replica of his color, because it really is HIS color. Mine is too dark, and there are parts that are too contrasty. There are great differences between the two, and I am not a beginner at this. Jun 02 09 03:32 pm Link I love this image. It's really beautiful. How did you get the color saturation on the first image? Really it is something you have play with. Jun 02 09 03:59 pm Link it looks like most of the coloration is done by starting with a slightly green white balance and then following it up with playing around with split toning a little bit. then, with a slight desaturation i think youll find yourself in the ballpark. as for lighting, it looks like its lit with 2 high keys from the front. this causes the V shadow under the chin and the lack of catch light in the eyes. also, there is an addition light to the side giving her the highlight and helping separate her from the backdrop. guessing from the vignetting in the lower right corner, this side light is also being used to light the backdrop. Jun 02 09 04:07 pm Link This is a good start. Thank you so much. Star, your portfolio is amazing. Really gorgeous images. Just a hodge-podge of tweaking without any clear direction really. I'll need a lot of practice. Photoshop can be an obsession. Jun 03 09 10:16 am Link |
