speaking of rolling......  i wonder why sharks are coming ashore.. GW has a shot posted of himself holding a baby shark too... hmmm Red tide??  curious i must say...

hope everyone's week is fantastic.. life is good..

and ps will be posting shots of Ed s completed truck converted from 2 door to 4 door. quad cab.... amazing Mr Mac Gyver... something about being raised broke which allows you to really use your creative mind to its advantage.. plus he really is sooo good with cars/truck etc.. mechanically inclined for sure..

If it were Red Tide I would think there would be a bunch of smaller critters washed up, lots of fish and a bad smell but there isn't.  Two days ago there was a dead stingray on the beach.

I can't believe I have a dead shark in my freezer to deal with.  This is no small project!  LOL

My mom is coming to visit for my boy's bday.  Maybe I should give it to her for a project.  LOL!  Just kidding.  I'm going to pull it out of the freezer now and cut his head off then start I guess.

Now I just have a small head in the freezer instead of a 2' Shark.  LOL  No time to mess with the stupid thing now.  I have bigger fish to fry....  wink

I love finding shark teeth on the beach and my kids really get into it...so why not have an entire shark skeleton?  No, I did not touch the dead critter with my bare hands.

Anyone know of the best/easiest/mess-free way of getting this down to a skeleton?

I can think of Chlorine, Bleach (but not together with Chlorine LOL), Burying it for several months, boiling it for a really really long time but I don't think I have a pot big enough.  Thoughts?

Or, should I just chop the head off for the jaw...and then how do you get the jaw to be propped open for display?

https://www.owenimages.com/shark040813_smallphoto.jpg

awww sooo pretty smile  dont chop his head off.... shark jaws are so cheap and you can buy them anywhere.... a full skeleton is much rarer.... i WANT! tongue

Greg, from the tail it looks like a Thresher Shark...

definitely not a thresher.. nearly all sharks have a longer top tip to their tail,  theshers top tail tip are nearly the entire length of their body though.

it just looks like the common sandbar shark baby.  they get darker brownish in color as they age.  their top tail tip has a little hooked out portion which i can somewhat makeout by the photo posted

I learned that sharks don't have bones/skeleton, just the jaw and teeth really.

To change the subject for Joe...

I talked to Slyce Pizza Bar and they said that they could handle 100 people showing up all at once. http://slycepizzabar.com/

I have contacts out in an effort to see if I could come up with 10+ models that are not on MM and most people have never met before.  Stay tuned.  As you know, this is the most difficult part.

The beach is ready, I check on it every day!

Since no date has been set, I have not spoken with the weather gods yet.

My condo is ready for a SSMG afterwards.

Any other major details to discuss?
