What can be done to turn this (pleasant IMO) portrait into something more striking? PM for large file (8bit BW jpg), and please post back if you are done. OK to use for portfolio.

You need to explore what you can do with it in LightRoom or ACR as a tiff.

Dodge and burn are always after the fact. You need to look for what is in the image first, D&B should be an enhancement not a make over.

Thanks Neil, still learning so feedback always appreciated; unfortunately it was a JPEG (film scan, reduced resolution).  What a lovely photo though!
