it is without a doubt the sharpest lens I have ever owned.. Full stop.

No vignetting at any focal length, edge to edge, tack sharp throughout the entire range. And just one of the best bangs for the buck.

yeah i love that lens too. but its really a landscape/architecture type lens. I wouldn't use it for people.

Absolutely crowd sourcing. From the responses here and in other areas, the new 70-200 seems my first purchase, followed by the 85mm.

This has absolutely clarified my thought process in making the decision.

UPS tells me my d4 will be here in less than 24 hours, and I'm going to rent the 70-200 for a dance show this weekend and give it a spin.

I have been waiting for the new 135/2 DC.  For my old Dx, 85 mm is real good, but for D800, I would think that 100 or 135 mm will be golden.
