First Post Here.

When I retouch... I sometimes miss elements that need to be improved that are right in front of me.

This forum seems like it might be a great place to come to... to get another set of eyes... and to get some other opinions...and to look for ways to improve on image making.  This is my first image post.  I guess you post a before and after... or show an example of what youre working on.  Ill try it out.... and see where it goes.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting.  I tend to like idealizing images and making them as perfect as I can in my minds eye.   The fun might be that someone else may have another totally different viewpoint.  Might be a good exercise.

Its always a good idea to get another set of eyes when retouching.  Thanks for taking a look and commenting.  I tend to like idealizing images and making them as perfect as I can in my minds eye.   The fun might be that someone else may have another totally different viewpoint.  Might be a good exercise.

The power of her smile is reduced in the retouched version. Sometimes when you reduce smile tension elements, such as the lines produced you turn off the magic.

I sense what you mean.

Thanks for pointing that out.  The lines near the mouth for me were going in all kinds of directions... so I softened them out and just left in some hints.  I did that function Non Destructively...so its real easy for me to dial in some more lines and manage them back into the image.  Good idea to leave in some more lines...easily done.

Thanks

I like the body in the lighter areas in the "before" image. Of course, that may be a matter of personal preference, but I like more "body" in the highlit areas, and more detail in the shadows, while they still look like shadows and highlights.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the comment.  You got a point.  I was going for the higher lighter look creatively...my original to me was under exposed and a bit muddy and off color...so I didnt appreciate the lower tones imbedded.

I think your right however...I can easily add some shadow tones back in.  It is a non-destructive workflow...so I can just dial back on the brightness some to bring the darker tones back a bit more.

Thanks.
