I've been on here long enough that's it time I put myself out there to see what you REALLY think about my port.  Too much?  Too little?  What kind of model do you see me as after viewing it.  Any pictures that should just go away?
Constructive please- I appreciate advice and observations that are relevant tp help me achieve my goals of shooting more creative/edgy editorial style images (even if its for nothing more than fun).
All feedback is appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your time!

I really like the feeling of:

and
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140823/22/53f9775b28520_m.jpg
(but the photographer could have done a better job on your legs)

This one isn't bad:

You have a carefree effortless lifestyle look in these photos and I think you should do more like them.

I'm sorry to say that in many shots your implants look a bit out of proportion for your frame. In many of your fashion photos they cause the garments not to fit.

Here are some examples:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140822/17/53f7db48e9a3f_m.jpg
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140710/11/53beddeb6e6c9_m.jpg
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141024/12/544aa991a0b86_m.jpg
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141024/12/544aa966600f3_m.jpg

Because of them you also need to be very careful of your posing. For example in this photo:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141117/21/546ad6556ce3d_m.jpg

Your face and eyes look amazing, but below the shoulders things look out of balance. This is partly because of your implants, but also because you are posed with your hips and shoulders straight at the camera. A slight turn to angle your body would have made you look slimmer.

For example this body pose is a lot better for you:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140818/16/53f29333671cb_m.jpg

... but too much of a profile and those implants work against you again.

I know that you get a lot of comments on the photos that tend to show more breast such as:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140710/11/53bee223308ba_m.jpg
But consider the source of those comments – some people just like boobies.

Other things:

I would remove: https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141222/18/5498d56cd4e24_m.jpg
The composition is terrible, the dress is completely blown out and the focus is on the trees as much as you. Ditch now.

The B&W wedding photo is much better.

Lighting and retouching play a very crucial role in how your complexion looks – for example in these photos you look 10 years older than the age you state on your profile:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141118/18/546bf9c956bc0_m.jpg
ditto this
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141118/17/546bf987d2e92_m.jpg
and this
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/140917/16/541a1f73ebd98_m.jpg

While here your face looks plastic
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/150226/21/54effcb2d1c8a_m.jpg

Most of it has to to with the photographer's post processing work on the images – nonetheless they're not doing your portfolio any favors.

Other things I would recommend removing:

This is not a modeling pic:

Below your face is a different color than your body... was probably a bad makeup job but looks like a bad photoshop job
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141128/19/547940d5d6945_m.jpg

----

Overall I think you should continue to model and have fun with it... beware of bad angles and over processed photos and your port will improve.

Having said that I think TFP with good photographers is your best friend right now, if you can get good photographers to shoot with you free. "Paid Assignments Only" is definitely not where you're at. I don't know any type of photographer other than a creep with a camera who would pay you for shoots based on your current port. In other words, it's not professional. I personally wouldn't even shoot with you TFP because I don't see anything in your port that makes me believe working with you would benefit mine.

Good Luck!

I'd shoot with you! smile

But here's some more constructive thoughts...

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/150309/19/54fe58c45594f_m.jpg
This one can go, your legs are pointed straight at the camera, can't see any joint or angle, and it makes them look funny, which is too bad, because I like your feet in that shot (or maybe it was just overprocessed in post and all the lines from your left knee got removed...) Also, not crazy about the top since it hides your shape completely, and I don't like the hair blowing in your mouth either.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/150226/21/54effcb2d1c8a_m.jpg
Love this shot, but it's right on the edge of being out of focus, and I'm starting to think these were all done by the same photographer, there's just a touch too much post processing on your skin for my taste, but that doesn't have much to do with you as a model, just the quality of the picture.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/150226/21/54effc79efa49_m.jpg
I like this one too, but my brain tells me something is off about the lighting, or at the very least, it could have used a reflector on your right side. Why does it look like there is a  mic pack under your skin at the top of your bikini bottom? Is that just a muscle that happens to look odd there?

Reclining BW nude on couch.
As much as I love nudes, and good BW, I'm not sure this is a great shot. The darks are way too dark, it's a little grainy for my taste, and because of the darkness, it makes you look much thicker across your tummy, also, I would have shopped out a few of the crinkles caused from that pose at your hips. Face is also a little out of focus, which I suppose is ok if you're really trying to make your boobs the object of this shot (I don't think they needed the help drawing attention!) And the crop could be a little better.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/150202/18/54d02c3ede47c_m.jpg
Good shot, I might have brought the crop down a little lower on top, and a little lower on the bottom, but that's minor, I like this.

I get yelled at for splashing colours into an otherwise good BW photo, so I'm gonna defer to others on this one. smile

BW nude, facing couch
Too grainy, doesn't do much for you, that same pose could look so much better. Kinda looks like a snapshot.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/150110/18/54b1e3e450902_m.jpg
Love this!

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/150110/18/54b1e3ba466d6_m.jpg
Great shot, I would have brushed the sand off your knee first, but I like this one too, very nice everything here. I like the pose, the colour, the face, the DOF, the crop, all good to me.

Everyone looks good in a wedding dress, that's not fair. smile Moving on...

BW wedding dress, not as crazy about the facial expression here, but that forest canopy is crazy, shoot more things there!

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141215/09/548f210762660_m.jpg
This is great too, wish I could have seen a little more of your face, but I love the composition and pose.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141215/09/548f20e806c7c_m.jpg
This one had my brain saying something was wrong with the light again... Generally, I like the shot, you look good, but again, a little more facial expression would work better too I think. There's too much fill light here, I can see a shadow on your right shoulder from your arm, that shouldn't be there, you're out on a sunny beach in the daytime, and you've (the photographer) has overpowered the natural light and created something that just doesn't "feel right" when I look at it (I've learned to trust my instincts when my brain says something's wrong with a shot smile ).

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141215/09/548f1fe287463_m.jpg
Not crazy about this one, it's not horrible, but there's little things about it I don't like, and again, facial expression seems off a bit.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141128/19/547941a8d1bf0_m.jpg
Soft focus, wind swept, very pretty. I like this.

The whole Marilyn series, I'd shoot more with that guy/girl, he makes you look even better. I like his/her work with you.

Your first Vintage moment, it has a little "edgy" to it, but too many little flaws for me to like.
Second Vintage moment, better, but a little heavy on the orange/pink retro filter, and look at your right shoulder in that pose, that doesn't look natural (although it might be made a little worse because it comes down and runs into a rather large curve you have there smile ).

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141117/21/546ad6556ce3d_m.jpg
If it wasn't for a small shadow on your right elbow, I'd have nothing to complain about here! smile

lol! ok, as much as I am avoiding work I don't wanna do, I just realized you have 72 pics! smile I'm gonna skim and hit the highlights from here, I'm sure others will come along and add anything I missed, or disagree with anything I've already said! smile

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141022/06/5447b1152b651_m.jpg
Much yes here! smile

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/141012/16/543b0c8d42260_m.jpg
Very cool, I liked the orange dress before this one too, but it has that funny lighting problem again, not as bad though, still cool.

I liked just about everything on page 4.

There was a shot with you in pink behind some tomatoes, that can go. smile

And it would probably help if you split your port up into albums, rather than having a big jumble of images like you do now.

Anyways, I hope that helps, that's what I saw. smile

To me your port has a sense of sameness.  If there were no credits under the photos I would think they were all shot by the same photog in the same week.  Your bio and your casting uses the term "edgy"; I often ask models when they say that, what they mean?  Because to me, edgy means pushing some boundaries (that have not already been pushed, otherwise it's not that edgy).  You want to diversify yourself and that is awesome, I can appreciate artists in general who want move outside of the box.  However, again, your port has a lot of the same "look", your facial expression/emotion in a majority of the photos never really changes.  You have "paid assignments only" but then for your TF work you have you own Contract.  The problem with this is twofold: One, when you are seeking paid assignments only you are going to get 95% of new photographers building their port or "guys with cameras" as the models have come to call them, and Two, no photographer who produces good work is going to TF with you using YOUR contract under YOUR conditions.  It all seems very one sided when TF, as you correctly pointed out, is to benefit both sides.  And your port reflects this, it shows a "girl with a body" (my version of guy with camera) that has accepted lots of paid work, but has not been discriminatory in her selection of which photographer to work with.  I tell every model that is new and start to be extremely selective when deciding who to work with, even if you have to TF for 1-2 years while building a port and gaining experience.  THEN, as an experienced model to pay it forward; select a couple of inexperienced photographers who look like more than just a GWC and help them out (I had an experienced model do this for me and it was invaluable).  Your bio also read "no diva qualities here. no ego...." however, that is exactly what I get from this.  As a photographer if I was looking for a model to shoot, and I like the way you look and your style, I would pass you up just based on the "vibe" I get from your port; sometimes less is more.  Everything in your port is you you you (You want to shoot?  Great.  Now please check out some of my lists.  Those are the type of shots I'm after right now.  Think you're down for any of those?  Yeah?  Super.  Then I'm your girl.), but at the same time you want to step outside of your "comfort zone" according to your casting.  I would set let go of trying to be in control and see what happens, you might be presently surprised; don't go for bombshell and edgy, go for whatever the photographer wants and if it turns out great, awesome, if it doesn't, well I will go fuck myself lol, but seriously, you have to let go before you can gain control.

You have a great look, just find some photographers who can bring it out and will not photoshop you to death.  I would wipe your portfolio clean and start building from the ground up.

Cheers.

James.

if the truth is constructive then this will be.
You can easily toss out your entire book if you want to do work at the level that Miami or LA are doing.
You need to work with photographers that can work you and in turn create shots where there is more happening than you standing in some location with cool clothes.
Some of your shots are overly retouched, others not at all, none are competitive in the marketplace at any real level.
The sexy girl stuff will make you popular with some level of audience but nothing that will yield great results.
Remember this:

The one asset you have a diminishing supply of is time.

Find some amazing shooter and start fresh, your first great shot will instantly render the rest of your portfolio null and void.  There are plenty of terrific people shooting in Florida who know the location, weather have stylists and make up folks on hand.  Just invest in ONE of those kinds of shoots

If you cannot see the weaknesses in your photos, then I will come off as mean and harsh.  Sorry.

I think you try hard and hit some good poses but overall conceptually, the portfolio doesn't bop. The thing that hit me when I saw the photos was judging by the quality an absence of crew. Just the photographer and you. The makeup was so very much the same that I presumed you did it. If I were to shoot you I wouldn't do it unless a MUAH was on board. Your cheekbones could use some accenting and so on. Good luck.

As I go against the tide...I would try to do some commercial or lifestyle imagery and focus  a bit less on the glamour or fashion work for a minute.   Find a solid MUA and try and avoid shoots unless you have one.   Your book fluctuates quite a bit from fashion to bombshell to snapshot.   I would remove the snapshot level photos.   While 28 isn't old I would avoid harsh lighting for photos.   Its hard to pull off on young girls and women but gets harder as we age.   I'm curious about your modeling goals.   If its doing what you have then you're fine.   If its getting signed you aren't in the best location is my guess and again a lack of commercial work may hurt you.

Lifestyle and commercial photos is what I would lean toward going forward.   Get a good commercial head shot.   Unless its a terrific image I wouldn't put shots where I had done my own face in my portfolio.

Okay- now that I have some time to actually reply.  First off- thank you, all of you.  My goals are nothing more than a personal challenge.  Honestly, this all started from some old photos I unearthed of my father.  Black and white.  8x10.  Taken and developed by my uncle in the 70's.  They capture EVERYTHING about him.  When you look at them, there is no question about his personality, attitude, lifestyle.  They are the centerpiece of my living room, and I love watching the reaction of people when they see them.  And it made me realize- I want something like that of me that down the road someone marvels at just as much.  Children, grandchildren, whatever.  As I've gotten deeper in this process, I've become more confused about my direction.  What DO I want o say about myself?  Its not about perfection- but more about personality, maybe?
I don't want to get signed.  I don't want to go to Miami.  Maybe just marry a football player and call it a day??  Haha.
Honestly, I just want to create something that moves someone. Yes, I've experimented with glamour (not so much moving there- at least, not in the right areas).  Now I want to hit edgy and get a little unconventional.  Again- its a series of personal challenges.  I get ideas in my head, and simply try to see them come to life.  Hey, as far as free time goes, its better than hanging out in bars.
So, again, thank you for your advice/thoughts/opinions.  I'm just happy no one has told me I'm an idiot for even bothering.  That tells me at least maybe I'm close.
PS- I would say its about 50/50 as far as MUA goes.
PPS- Putting "paid assignments only" has been an EXCELLENT way to greatly reduce the amount of.....shall I say, undesirable offers?
