Hi everyone; I'm looking for a full (or partial if you're not up for full) portfolio critique from photos (quality, quantity, which ones to delete / not delete etc); through to rates, credits, casting calls & the over all look / feel / impression that my portfolio has. If you'd like to take it further you're welcome to do the same at my Facebook page here: www.facebook.com/hamish.croker.page

Kind regards & if you'd like a critique in return then please feel free to ask,

Hamish

You're asking a lot. Why not select a few representative images and ask for critiques of them. I doubt you'll find too many people who want to analyze seventy-five images.

First off any photo with the big “H” should be removed, any time a distracting element in a photo draws my eyes off the model the photo has failed.

Fill the frame with the important item, which would be the model, do you see all the non-model space above her head?

Same with this image a lot of non-model space at top of image [Great smile]

For me this is your best image, well done

Include the foot next time, instead of space to right of models head
Model appears under exposed

Feet please, less space above model head

This may have worked better as a horizontal, and to have included both feet

Over all you have an above average portfolio, and seem to connect well with your subjects

Wish you well

What's with the big distracting watermark?

pretty mediocre port as of now.  Gets some nice head shots in there

1) With all those photos on your port, I would make categories to place them in. There are way too many variety shots in there and being new to your profile, I would pass it up quite quickly. I don't even know what style I'm supposed to be looking for (or at for that matter).

2) If you must watermark your shots, do it digitally (embeded in exif) or use a subtle sig at the lower right corner in grey color. Grey colors blend into the photo much easier than stark black or white. Size matters here too. If too large, it detracts from the image; if small, it's there but not distracting to the viewer's eye.

3) Always remember the rule of thirds!! Most all of your shots do not follow this rule and you lose my attention real quick.

As others have stated, either headshots or full body; not feet cut off, or too much sky, etc. Framing is key, even if it's done in post (ie PS, LR, etc).

I can critique harder, but I think you get the idea... Good luck!
