Soon I plan on posting a casting call for an all American Girl Next Door looking model. When I started thinking about the look I was after, I became a little confused. It seems that in this day and age in America there is so much diversity that I can't seem to pinpoint just what look it is I am after. I really need some help on this one.

H E L P!!! big_smile

A detailed description would be nice, and photos even better.

Thanks!
Gary

I'll probably get a lot of disagreement on this but I think that all of these qualify at "The American Girl Next Door Look", not despite their diversity but rather because of it:

Interesting! This actually triggered me to think about 'typical national' looks as well, and I must say, I can't seem to come up with clear images of "All Dutch Girl Next Door" either big_smile

edit:

How about this?

I've been thinking about this too, and going nowhere.  Kind of like herding cats and catching fog in your hands.

Mostly over weight (from my perspective) in my neighborhood.

This really is a tough call. Especially given the fact that people are so easily offended these days. Long hair, short hair, blonde or brunette. Plus size, thin, tall, short. Straight, gay, transgender. And wow, all of the skin tones. Someone is bound to feel left out.

I might just forget this project and tell my client I'm too busy. big_smile

I missed the fact that this was a project for a client.  If you're willing to walk away from the project, how about a hail mary effort and propose that the client pick the model that best fits what they have in mind.

in my opinion?  Playboy pretty much has this cornered:  The pretty faced college girl you really would see living nextdoor in suburbia.  But then you turn the page and she has a beautiful, bombass woman's figure.

This can be done by expression, makeup, hair, wardrobe and posing.  I try to do it all of the time.

Good luck!!!

p.s. Ethnicity is subjective.  Playboy has embraced a lot of multiracial Centerfolds as of late. Any young woman, race, hair color, skin color who has the college girl look and raging figure would work, esp if shot correctly.

Check out Miss March 2015, Chelsiarn. Born and raised in a farm in Upstate, NJ.  Half Japanese, half German.

non PB image..the pictorial was a really pretty shoot in the S. Calif desert.  (not wild about this expression, just a non PB shot of Chelsie.)

That is Stephy, your avatar.  She was first photographed for Playboy's college girls when she was in college.   smile

Hi my Friend!!!!

Yep!  Stephy's very first photoshoot was for the magazine feature "Girls of the Big Ten." The rest, as they say, is history!  She's still modeling for PB, moved to LA in Nov and hasnt stopped since!

Chrissy Marie has the quintessential Girlnextdoor look. Like bigtime. Chrissy's also a Playboy model.

I'm not a guy so I really can't give a preference for what the modern-day "Girlnextdoor" should look like.  I can only go by what Playboy's been doing lately (see above).

Good luck to the OP and the shoot!

Gary, you're planning this casting call for a client or yourself?  If it's for a client, I would ask for more details.  If it is for yourself, I would say that the description of "All American Girl Next Door" has changed over the decades since that term has been used.  Look at the diversity of the Miss America pageant and it's obvious that the term is much more generic than it is specific. The details of what the purpose of the images will be used for would help greatly.

Now I read this after I posted!

Asking us, you're going to get many different answers (opinions really) so go back to the client and see if you can get a more detailed description.

The client is up in the air about the look as well. That is why he threw it at me.

I've been pondering what makes an "All American Girl Next Door Look" since you posted it, and I think that the key might really be in the facial look (regardless of ethnicity, etc).

I suggest that it might be one of those faces where there's a bit of a friendly innocent look, that's a real beauty with a bit of sexiness too it.  I know, easier said  than found!

What I'm (badly) trying to describe is that there are beautiful faces that are sexy, there are ones that innocent and/or friendly "approachable" looking.  But there are some that manage to straddle all those lines.

Those are the ones that look like they were that cute friendly kid down the street that was later "discovered" by Playboy.

Alright then, you might do well to pull some images of your favorite models that you've worked with before and show him.  I see at least a couple in your portfolio that may do.  When growing up as a kid, I thought of Mary Anne from Gilligan's Island as the "All American Girl" ... Dawn Wells.
