These styles to a photographer using professional terms?

There are going to be varied interpretations and responses to your questions since there is no consensus on terminology.  To me the first two are high contrast using direct or specular lighting. The last image is more retro lingerie to me.

If this is what you want from a photographer it is better to show him/her the photos than use the words.  Words can be easily misunderstood. Hard to misunderstand a photograph.

X10.  I just refer as an editorial look and follow with an image or two.  smile

Edited:  This becomes ever more important when nude is in the concept.  I will make sure the level of nudity and emotion are clearly presented to the models under consideration.  No one likes surprises.  I never have the time to do a pre-shoot meeting.  I only have time to bond with the model within half hour to an hour before I pick up the camera.  Knowing exactly what other expected us to do helps in getting the results we want.  Of course, we can improvise and be creative along the way as a "team".  That is the fun part.  smile

Agreed, I nearly always send photos of the style I'm looking to shoot before I finalize anything and it's always more helpful they just trying to describe it.
