Utah sucks...
So... this is going to be a mini rant, so ... enjoy! I lived in a few states while doing the photography game and Utah by far is the worst state so far. When I was in Florida, people were serious, there were plenty of TFs and enough experienced models as well, not to mention MUAs and other pros. Colorado was pretty good too. I worked with body paint artist who later ended up on Skin Wars. It was great experience as well. Now Utah, so far, sucks… Models schedule a photoshoot and cancel at the last mixture and just disappear; just no show, no notice is a regular type of thing to expect as well… I run a meetup with 400 members, 30 would sign up for an event and then 3 would actually show up. Sometimes I think why bother..? Very disappointing. Jul 30 15 07:58 am Link Just spit-balling here, but maybe your "Utah Sucks" attitude contributes...? Jul 30 15 08:14 am Link Corking fees. Jul 30 15 08:24 am Link This is a great model from Salt Lake City. Jul 30 15 08:50 am Link This kind of thing happens everywhere. Models claim photographers do it, too (I wouldn't know as I've never agreed to shoot with a photographer). As one lives and learns, one develops techniques to keep these things to a minimum. It hasn't dropped to zero for me yet but it's not at 100% anymore, either. For instance, when a model is "so in love with my work that she has to shoot with me", that has been a clear indicator that she will not show, will back out at the last minute or will disappear before the plan can be finalized. I'm prepared for that now.. If a model will not give me her phone number, don't schedule the shoot. This means I can't contact her directly the night before the shoot or right before I leave to get to the location. When a model expresses interest in doing nudes, the shoot isn't going to happen (they won't show). The list goes on and on. Just remember that you can't control anyone else in terms of thought or action. You can only control yourself. While it is preferable that everyone show up on time and ready to work, it's just not going to happen. I'm not perfect so I can't expect perfection out of anyone else. So ... I think of it as a learning experience and actually a bit liberating. I get to explore that area and take other pictures without having to deal with someone's bad attitude, their escort interfering or them complaining because I promised pictures in 7-10 working days and it has only been 4 days, 2 of which were Saturday and Sunday (not working days). The lack of nude models there meant people were eager to hire me for projects. Jul 30 15 10:12 am Link Koryn wrote: I like your attitude. Jul 30 15 10:55 pm Link |
