i remember--as a kid--that there were these pretty cheesy animated series of stories, that took on some of the lower classics, as their backbone.

the ones i can remember vividly were, treasure island, the legend of sleepy hollow, and maybe robinson crusoe. i've never been able to find who produced those. it was all the same company, that much was clear.

I remember those too.  I am 49.  I spent a summer in NYC and we used to watch the shows in my aunt's house.  I have no idea who made them but I really enjoyed.  Good luck finding out who made them

I remember an animated Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and I was thinking it was a presentation of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color. But my memory has it as being pretty good for the time, not so cheesy.

I vaguely remember the Sleepy Hollow cartoon, but I thought you might be referring to the Three Musketeers as well.
