Took me forever to remember my password.

2 years with my kidney transplant and thriving, for the most part.

I have shared with several people of talent &/or beauty, if exemptions from pain and suffering were something I could grant immunity, you got it!
Alas, such is not within my finititude.

Michael, how did your kidney materialize?!

My wife's niece saw the call for a kidney on Facebook.

Have you looked into cadaver programs?
My wife didn't qualify for a live donor for a variety of reason but did for a cadaver.

I didn't need to.  They told me I was looking at a 10 to 14 year wait for B+ here in Los Angeles, but due to inoperable heart blockages, I needed to have the transplant within 3 to 5 years so I went with the live donor.

Wow... that's a long time!

Strange tho... B+ is higher in Asian populations and LA does have a way above demographic in Asians. Or is the wait so long because of high demand?

Also, just curious... any idea how long the wait would be for a B- organ?

Just wondering, because that's my blood type, B Rh Negative.

I know it's super rare, but I am interested to know.

Glad you've got your health back!

from what i understand, it's based on demand.  Since organs are allocated by a national registry, UNOS, it's confusing how it works.  Certain states have shorter wait times and distribution is not race specific. I was told to look into states with no motorcycle helmet laws to shorten the wait.
