Like the title says I'm new to the modeling world haha. I was thinking I might have an opportunity in it. Alot of people I know in person tell me I have potential to turn it into a profession. What are some of your thoughts on my current portfolio here on this website? Thank you for the honest criticism.

Here is my viewpoint on selecting the photos that you are adding to your portfolio, are the photos just showcasing you or are they a bit busy.
Example, in this photo you have a lot going on in the background photo left, lamp posts, railing. Now here is your experiment for the evening, print out this photo, cover up the left side of the photo, just to the outside of the right button on you pocket. Do you see how the photo shows you off more with that little change?
The idea is to not give the viewer anything to look at but you.

Of your current photos 10 of them are not looking at the camera, a few distant gases will go a long way.

People’s eyes are drawn to bright things, in this photo the light is getting all of the attention.

You look good in the sweater, but your expression lacks emotion
Suggest wearing this sweater and getting a professional studio style color headshot to add to your portfolio.

I wish you well

Thank you for the feed back. I just started taking photos a few weeks ago and honestly I don't really have a clue what I'm doing haha just having fun with it. I tottally agree that some of my photos should show more facial expression and some photos need a little less going on in the background. Again, Thank you kindly for the feed back Lee.

I think you have a really nice look, and your stats are good too.

That being said, it's extremely difficult for most male models to book regular work and make enough money to survive on.  If you do some research, you'll find that the career outlook for male models is pretty grim.  And you're black, which will make it all the more difficult (less work for black models). Here are some great articles to read if you're thinking about getting into modeling:

I would keep having fun with it, get some amazing photos, just don't expect to get regular work or make a lot of money.

Best of luck to you!  :-)

So do I understand correctly that you are taking your own photos?  If so, you must have spent a lot of time looking at magazine shots to get posing ideas.  Still, there are lots of little tricks going on behind the scenes that you are not going to detect from looking at magazine photos.

The lighting could be better on most of your shots.

You are sort of in the ball park on arranging the composition of an image, but an experienced photographer could refine it better.

Consider the technical lighting range that a camera can handle.  When you have both black and white in a scene, you can't have a perfect exposure for both.  Keep that in mind when picking clothing.

But what I'm thinking is - It's going to take a long time to be a good photographer.  If you are serious about being a model, you need to quickly accumulate a quality portfolio.  That means you need to find a good photographer to take your ideas to.

Honestly, I made all of those poses up as I went along lol never did any studying or anything. Ive only been doing this for about a month. Also you are correct. He's an experienced graphic designer but only a part time photographer. I should probally look into getting a photo shoot done with a full time photographer to make my portfolio stand out more. Thank you for the advice my friend.

Your avatar (orange background)  is the worst picture in your portfolio.  I personally would delete it.

One of these should be your avatar:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/41623726

These two are well styled, and have a nice upscale mens fashion / catalogue look.

But it really pops and gets attention in a small space.  Once he has people's attention, they will go to the portfolio and find the images with more character.
