Resolution and Print Size
Just curious, given that on a full frame 24mp camera files are usually 6000 x 4000 pixels. So when printing at 300dpi one divides the measurements by 300. In this case you would end up with an approximate 20 x 13 print. How many use this formula? You can print 6000x4000 to poster size or billboard size depending upon how far away the viewers are. I use it as a rough guide for photo book printing but regularly go less for prints on canvas. Aug 09 21 06:37 am Link Abbitt Photography wrote: Correct, some though accept 240, depending on format. I made great 40x60 inch posters from my 10mp Nikon D200. What do I do? I use the crop tool. Set it to my target print size and then set the dpi to either 300 or 360 depending on the printer I’m using. If it’s a massive print, like 40x60, I’ll consider cutting it in half. 150 or 180. Do a light sharpening then print. Aug 26 21 09:05 pm Link If you go down to 200 dpi you can make larger prints, but people stand back further when looking at larger prints. Sep 02 21 12:19 am Link |
