About MeI am Michael Bugard, an actor in the Detroit area. I have appeared in several independent features, shorts, and music videos. Most recently I played the part of Julian in "Dead Quiet", starring Jeff Hatrix, aka "Jeffrey Nothing" of the metal band Mushroomhead, and Kip Weeks, the bad guy under the hood in "The Strangers" (starring Liv Tyler). This autumn I will be playing the role of Vex Skanda, the future's leader of a worldwide, organized crime syndicate in the feature "Aladdin 3477", to be directed by acclaimed Star Wars artist, Matt Busch (who has been called a genius by J.J. Abrams).
I have also done background and modeling work in many Hollywood productions including "Real Steel", "Oz: The Great and Powerful" and the upcoming film directed by Ryan Gosling, "Lost River". I am featured in "Hostel: Part 3" as an elite Hunt Club client, and am also featured as a mental patient in the upcoming "Eloise". I also do underground modeling, and write, with an article published in issue X of Michigan Movie Magazine about the history of horror film production in Michigan, from "The Evil Dead" to present. Recently I started doing my own conceptual photography.
Looking to network with Detroit area photographers, models, and other artists to create original, unique, bizarre, alternative and rebellious art.
"The first thing to realize--though it is difficult in a commercial age--is that what is best in creative mental activity cannot be produced by any system of monetary rewards. Opportunity and the stimulus of an invigorating spiritual atmosphere are important, but, if they are presented, no financial inducements will be required, while if they are absent, material compensations will be of no avail. Recognition, even if it takes the form of money, can bring a certain pleasure in old age to the man of science who has battled all his life against academic prejudice, or to the artist who has endured years of ridicule for not painting in the manner of his predecessors; but it is not by the remote hope of such pleasures that their work has been inspired. All the most important work springs from an uncalculating impulse, and is best promoted, not by rewards after the event, but by circumstances which keep the impulse alive and afford scope for the activities which it inspires. In the creation of such circumstances, our present system is much at fault." -- Bertrand Russell, "Proposed Roads to Freedom"
"That's what makes something funny - where you mix the Absurd with the Real." --Buzz Aldrin
"Rouse up, O Young Men of the New Age! set your foreheads against the ignorant Hirelings! For we have Hirelings in the Camp, the Court, & the University, who would, if they could, for ever depress Mental & prolong Corporeal War." --William Blake
"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."-- Oscar Wilde
"Art is part of man's quest for grace; sometimes his ecstasy in partial success, sometimes his rage and agony at failure." --Gregory Bateson
