What part of 'yes' don't you understand?


Goals: to make my mom's jaw drop while she peruses my portfolio, instead of making her hands twitch through the richly-toned prints as she nervously sprints to the end. To make work that is considered 'must-have'. To keep making my own jaw drop.

Style: positive, personal, casual while still professional, tough, grainy, and a little unconventional (just ask about the time we jumped that fence with tripods and makeup kits and models and...)

Ideas: there are a few. fashion, figure, portrait, and anything that makes me nervous to start. i want to shoot white shirts, ruined suits, oiled faces, and polaroids.

So lets start with why I do it.
I would pay you to do it.  I don't know if it makes the world a better place
but it forces every woman who you shoot into your lense into a place of
total honesty.
There's no sexy way to pose naked (contrary to popular belief).  I think
every one looks a little weird naked and if you want to reveal the
weaknesses in people you'll catch them right away when you put them in a
sterile room with no clothes on.  The thing is, it is the weakness you catch
and not the strength.  That's what is so beautiful in your pictures.  The
total lack of defenses.  The image of a woman with her walls down.  Having
the strength to stand there and say this is my body, this is that weird bit,
this is where I fell when I was five, these are what I'll feed my babies
with, and this is used for sex is the most powerful thing I've done in my
life.  It has made me more complete.  THe knowledge that I can stand in
front of someone with my weaknesses waving like flags has made me feel more
powerful than ever.
The other thing is you.  You are through the other side of that lense.  Your
eyes are snapping the pictures with every wink and shift.  Your pictures
show a person pouring through the lens to the other side.  Your pictures
show connection.
I don't know if any of these things will solve the worlds problems but there
is a thing in women that you understand and that is how to break them down. 
If you shoot fashion, or you shoot children, you will always have that power
to draw a soul across the page.  When you do it with a naked woman it
becomes almost painfully moving because it is so unflinchingly gentle and
real.
I don't know.
I do it because I want to.  As selfish as it is.  I never did it for a naked
picture of myself or to lure you in.  I did it because I felt beautiful
without any crutches and the feeling was addictive.  I did it because I knew
you would catch that in your art.  I trusted you to and you always did.
