What's the scariest disease or pathogen?
I was asking this question to my coworkers today, and got some interesting responses. For me, I think of the scariest disease in the world is Fatal Familial Insomnia. Your brain literally LOSES THE ABILITY TO FALL ASLEEP. Lethal within 6 months, as your brain de-myelinates to the point where it can no longer support life. No treatment. No cure. Apr 24 13 09:07 pm Link Ass cancer. Apr 24 13 09:11 pm Link Big A-Larger Than Life wrote: Meh, my mom got that, it was immediately treated, she's fine, and now we just make fun of her. Apr 24 13 09:17 pm Link I think MS is really and awful Apr 24 13 09:18 pm Link Damianne wrote: Lmfao! Okay I srsly typed Ebola was about to hit reply then changed it to ass cancer to be a douche. So we agree on Ebola! Apr 24 13 09:21 pm Link Basically everything ever mentioned on house, because apparently there's only one dude in the whole world who could figure it out before I would die, and he's not real. That and the dudes in the biohazard suits waiting for me to croak so they could make me Ebolash. I'll take some AIDS thx. Sans Jimmy Buffet though. Apr 24 13 09:59 pm Link DIABEETUS. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.. Your body diminishes but you're mind doesn't.. It's very sad.. Apr 24 13 11:02 pm Link Alzheimer's. It doesn't outright kill you - it just destroys your mind. Apr 24 13 11:36 pm Link That brain-eating amoeba, Naegleria fowleri, that 2 poeple got recently from irrigating their nasal passages with those neti pots without the recommended sterile or distilled water sounds nasty. At a 98% fatality rate, it makes Ebola look like a wimp at 90%. And of course it was used in House as well. Apr 24 13 11:41 pm Link Big A-Larger Than Life wrote: You were very sick not long ago. Apr 25 13 12:31 am Link Insomnia ... doesn't everyone in the MM forums have that??? If not to begin with, as a result! I agree, VERY unpleasant to suffer with, and live with. Blood from every orifice isn't pretty. Or fun. That would be a horrid way to go. Or hemorrhagic fever which is similar I think. Well I suppose it could be worse, huh? Insomnia isn't fatal ... right? Apr 25 13 02:38 am Link Pity the OP didn't include parasites. There's a few awful ones that exist. There's that one in Africa where you can see it running under your skin. That would be kind of bad too, and plenty . Apr 25 13 03:11 am Link liindsay ann wrote: Kuru. Also anything really contagious that would make you paranoid about going outside and breathing air lol. Apr 25 13 04:11 am Link Ebola and similars ... for the horrible death, fast but extremely painful. Terminal diseases in an advanced state where Countries do not allow euthanasia. A.I.D.S.: both for the disease as such the possibility of contagion others during sex or for blood. Genetic diseases that involve the death during a certain time as the example made from the OP and similar. Apr 25 13 04:41 am Link None of the above.
