I've had patients who's GI tract backed up into their mouths.  They had poop in their stomach, then vomited, then aspirated on the stomach-poop, then got pneumonia from the bacteria in their lungs.

I'm so sorry to hear that, I am glad that he is free from the wheelchair now. One of my close friends has it, she has good days and very bad days
Both would be so heartbreaking to have

I'm actually studying Stephen Hawking at the moment and his AAC system of communication. It is amazing that we can make these systems and that they can use eye point and other methods of communication. If there's at least a positive it is that these systems are helping these people communicate. There are some really lovely ones for children coming out with more realistic voices and faster voice rates as well

I have multiple sleep disorders....

That is my affliction also!  It's awful not being able to fall asleep.  So what do I do?  Hop on to the MM forums and read about other horrible illnesses I could have!  Makes me think that maybe I wont sleep tonight after reading about ass cancer and throwing up shit!  Well I suppose it could be worse, huh?   Insomnia isn't fatal ... right?

That was used as a subject source in the game Dead Island. It's explained that the infected started with Kuru virus which mutated into something else, I think with human help and the whole island became infected with the walking dead in what seems like hours
