I think they no longer exist. Fine by me. They came to me looking to publish some of my stuff -- took a whole bunch, did an interview, then disappeared. No email replies, didn't answer the phone, nuthin'.

sheesh, i'm glad i wasn't the only one they did that to.  i never got the interview, but they did request full-res images.  i found a couple of issues on the news stands, but i think they ran out of funds to continue publishing.

Yeah, I've heard of several people they did that to. High-res files, the whole deal. They even gave me two publication dates.

That's a bummer. I think they published beautiful work. Can't speak to their business practices..... but I liked the magazine.

I was checking out that magazine earlier this year and found an entire spread on my photographer friend. I called her up and was like, "Why didn't you tell me you got a whole spread in the magazine?" She's said, "What magazine? What are you talking about?"

The beautiful work in the magazine is a credit to the fotogs and models who gave freely of themselves to appear in it. It'd be nice if someone associated with the publication stepped up and explained themselves. Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience of the way they operate.

You're not alone.

I paid for a 2yr subscription a few years back.  Received only one issue.  Had only limited success at getting anyone at the magazine to answer emails.  Was promised that the magazines would be sent, but nothing ever arrived.......I have now given up.

I took out a subscription last year and never received an issue. Thanks to American Express, I got a full refund.

People have asked me to respond here.  If you look around you at the recession and the general state of libraries and bookstores and publishers all over the world, you will realize that NUDE's distribution system went under.  Barnes

That's all great - but if they're "down" why did they take my money today for a subscription that is supposed to be quarterly? Shouldn't they stop taking money until they intend to produce a product? Even moreso- why is there no one on site to answer questions?

Huh. So the post office cut delivery days, and that is why the magazine can't send subscribers the product they paid for.  I will remember that one the next time I sell something online.  Funny how all my other magazine subscriptions, like National Geographic, still seem to make it into my mailbox, not to mention the clothes I order out of catalogs.

Yes, the mag is nice and I always enjoy perusing it. That's a damn shame though that whomever is running it is stealing people's money.

I actually thought these reports were all unsubstantiated but then a rep came in all unapologetic, full of excuses-- what is that about?!?

Can't even ask for a refund as the only answer you get from anyone is the thanks for your money note!!! Everything else bounces back!! So frustrating!!

Lots of folks have tried starting up a magazine featuring nude photography -- Jeff Dumas' "Collection" comes to mind.

These magazines have a higher failure rate than "G" or "PG" magazines, but fewer advertisers are willing to place ads in a "R" rated mag.

They all fail, and when they do, there often isn't enough money to inform the subscribers, let alone refund any money.  Bankrupt is bankrupt -- it is likely that no one gets a refund.

You could try a claim for 'Mail-Fraud' and at the very least be in line IF and WHEN the rag starts to publish again OR you could ask the spokesperson ( above ) to do you a solid...since that person thinks so highly of Carrie.

IMHO - Absent a refund or the actual rag itself it is not much more than common theft!

It's just mail fraud.  Plain old, legally actionable mail fraud.

Contact the Federal Trade Commission.  They have an online form you can fill out.

About two years ago I paid for a two year subscription and recieved one or two issues.  Took me six months before I realized I had not gotten a recent issue.

Really hate that too, because NUDE was a very good publication.

In spite of it being so long, I would really like to get my money back . . .
