In my case, in this thread, I have placed several girls with Playboy, and been involved with casting calls from them several times. Even so, I recognize that you and Glenn have better knowledge than I do, which is why I solicited your involvement in the thread.

I have a copy of one of my recent paychecks from Playboy. I have a working relationship with Debbee May, and have modeled for them before and as recently as March 07'. My numbers are accurate for the SE's and Employee of The Month.

This has all been very informative. I had thought the numbers would have been a little bit higher, but once again, there I go thinking. And it makes me wonder why some girls want $150.00 per hour w/ a 3 hour min. for implied. Hmmmmmm

I have a question I don't think anyone's addressed. What about Myspace celebrities like Tela Tequila? I know there are others but I can't remember their names. What does their pay look like.

I was recently paid $400 by Playboy to attend a party and frolic naked in the grotto. Honestly, I would have done it for free!

No, it's not very much at all and if you factor the exclusivity of the yearly contract, it's very little actually. It's more about the potential to launch a career, although very few have. Pam Anderson is about as good as it gets, as far as film, t.v., etc. and many playmates have had no success with their careers after being featured. I think that's why fewer women are submitting and the caliber of many of the girls auditioning has gone down in the last few years. That and Hef's obsession with fake boobs and dye blonde hair. (Will the Barbi twins flame me tonight?) Playboy t.v. and Playboy.com are the only money makers besides licensing agreements. SE does better than the monthly newstand and circulation is pitiful.

Stacy, some people are just going to believe what they are going to believe and no amount of prodding or informing them from people who have actually been involved with PB are ever going to change their minds. My studio manager is Miss December 2002, she sits with me and reads some of the replies about Playboy and can't believe some of the misconceptions. I've had models call her up and argue with a Playmate about PB stuff, and she just shakes her head and wonders why the girls are even asking some of the silly questions. And when they hear the straight facts from the Playmate who has been in Special Editions, has been a Centerfold, done the promotions and all the other items, they still don't believe her. Many of these people have already decided on their answers, so please don't confuse them with the facts. BTW, you are one of my favorite people here on MM. Keep up the amazing work.

I don't know about playboy. Someone I know posed and did not ever make the magazine. After she got a little fame they used her images in the magazine and it did nothing good for her career be careful girls.

Well, as I can see there is a lot of people here involved in deal with PB could you please let me know answers to some rumours I heard here in Poland. Being in fashion model agency we had some proposals to deal with PB US (not directly from PB but via some people in industry) but a few things were too strange for us and not to accept: - what is with those playmates living in Hef's house - there were some "signs" that visit here is needed to approve the model and I was afraid of some sexual meaning of the visit&approval case - is it really impossible to put a model into PB with a good rate but without those exclusivity, all rights and a few parts payments clauses? We haven't told about such restrictions before...

We haven't told about such restrictions before... all your questions answered and more: Sometimes the woman herself or a friend or partner sends in photos that catch the eye of our editors. Others are discovered by Playboy photographers or photographers who specialize in glamour, swimsuit, fashion or similar styles. Test shots are done of those women who are likely candidates to become Playmates or appear in pictorials or Special Editions. Hef and the photography editors consider these shots, and from them Hef chooses the Playmates. How much are the Playmates paid to pose? Playmates receive $25,000, and the Playmate of the Year earns an additional $100,000 and prizes such as a new car. How can a woman apply to pose for Playboy? Applicants for Playmate must send us only recent nude photographs of themselves. The photographs can be digital or prints, Polaroids or transparencies and show a variety of poses, including full figure and face shots. Please do not send us CDs, discs, or undeveloped film since we will be unable to review your submission. Sorry, we do not have photographers that we can recommend. The editors would also like information on the applicant, such as height, weight, measurements, occupation, awards and hobbies. Please include a brief bio as well. Playmate applicants must be at least 18 years old and proof of this must be included with the photo submission. This should be in the form of photocopies of two pieces of personal identification. Only the following will be accepted: driver's license, passport, birth certificate, school identification, voter's registration, Social Security, employee ID, or identification issued by the state of residence. Both of the pieces of identification must clearly show the applicant's name. One of these must have a current photograph and list her date of birth, or we cannot accept the submission. The individual submitting the pictures to Playboy, if other than the Playmate candidate herself, may be eligible to receive a "finder's fee" of $5,000 upon publication of the feature. A finder's fee is paid at Playboy's discretion. If an applicant is chosen and published as "Playmate of the Month" and she fulfills all of her obligations to Playboy, she will be paid a total of $25,000 with applicable taxes being withheld. Submissions can be mailed to: Attn: Playmate Editor P.E.I. (Just use these initials which stand for Playboy Enterprises, Inc.) 680 N. Lake Shore Drive Chicago, IL 60611 USA Or e-mail [email protected] Please be sure to include in the subject line of your e-mail: Attention Playmate Editor. Please note this address is for Playmate submissions only. Questions relating to other subject matters will not be answered. If you are a California resident, please send your materials to: Playmate Editor Playboy Studio West 2112 Broadway Santa Monica, CA 90404 USA After the editors have viewed the material submitted, only accepted candidates will be informed in approximately three months. If Playboy has not contacted the applicant within that time period, then unfortunately she was not selected. While we carefully consider each candidate's potential for Playmate or other features, we DO NOT return unsolicited materials unless accompanied by an appropriate-sized return self-addressed envelope with proper postage. Be assured these photos will not be published and will be destroyed. The submission photos are for evaluation only. If you would like to be considered as a candidate for Playboy Special Editions, mail your photos and material to: Special Editions P.E.I. 680 North Lake Shore Drive Chicago, Illinois 60611-3088

Hopefully not off topic, but how much do the photographers that shoot for playboy make? I've seen some pretty sophisticated sets and lighting setups (as many as 30+strobes featured in an issue of American Photo a few years ago - Mar-April 2002 with Arney Freytag). I would guess that they have to be making consistently more then what the models are getting paid.

These aren't exact numbers, they can change depending on the girl. Playmate of the Year 100,000 and a new car Playmate of the Month 25,000 (plus unlimited promotional opportunities, PB doesn't pay that much but the minute you stick Playmate on your resume, the jobs pour in. My friend who was Miss Feb 07 makes 700 a day doing almost nothing). Cybergirl of the Year 10,000 Model of the year (not positive) Cybergirl of the week and month dependent on how much work you have already done with PB, 500-1500 I don't know about the others, but the Busty Babes site and special edition I've shot for paid several hundred a day, up or down depending how much work you've done. Celebrities make 100,000+ (Britney recently asked to pose, Hef offered 400,000 and it would only be topless, she said no at least 700,000...he said no. Now she's begging Maxim. lol) Don't quote me on any of those because it's really not a set thing.

There are only 11 official photographers. They are paid well.

We haven't told about such restrictions before... Um...there is a Playmate house across the street, the girls live there while they are shooting at Playboy West. Some girls stay days, others month to a year. They generally take their meals and such at Hef's, all the fun stuff is over there. There is a 3 days test shoot at the Mansion for prospective Playmates. I know lots of them and they rarely SEE Hef let alone sleep with him. Hef has in the past been involved with lots of women and lots of Playmates, they are big girls, they can make their own damn decisions, and Hef never has to make anyone sleep with him, he can have just about any girl there. He will marry Holly in the next few years though, so she can take over PB more smoothly. As far as the contract, only Playmates have them, and yes Playboy has complete rights to everything. They might use your photos now or in ten years. You have no say. You also have to approve any outside work with them, and no nudity with anyone but them for the 2 years.

Maybe that's what's happening and they then decide to post in that forum. *Shrugs

Playboy does not pay extensive amounts of money and they don't have to. So many girls want to be in the magazine and would do it for free (if they are not already famous that is) On topic: I was payed three numbers for main series and cover in the Dutch version, September issue 2013. (why not give an exact number? It's in the contract to be discreet about your Playmate fee and I'm a good girl)

Beyond which, this thread has little point anymore. Very, very few models work with Playboy anymore. Since they went private last year, they have sold, closed or sub-contracted nearly all of what they were operating. The special editions no longer exist. The website, playboy.com (now playboyplus.com) and the TV station are run by ManWin. Their merchandise operations are sub-contracted. Most of the foreign editions are being run as licensed publications. On top of that, the size of the magazine has been cut in half to reduce costs. That translates to a cut of more than 90% as to the number of models who now actually work for Playboy. Few of the answers that were given in this thread even apply anymore and it is unlikely that many here will actually ever work for Playboy Enterprises (although many may work for independent companies licensed to use the Playboy name).

This post alone is reason enough to resurrect this very old thread. I am sure there are many models that have joined in the last few years that have benefitted from the informative answers given in the original thread by yourself, ken, and Glenn, and still have basically the same questions for those, such as yourself, who are still in the know regarding current policies/payments of Playboy. This is very often a good reason to bring back "Zombie" threads from long ago, and as some will notice the current amount of smart assed comments are far less than they were in the past. These forums today, are smaller, but far superior to the years ago, sometimes extremely vulgar forums that prevailed then. A big thanks to all the moderators and members, such as mentioned above, that have moved MM into a more respectable place to be.
