#2, I have actual plans to restart the gallery at some point & the amount of extra coding time becomes ludicrous.

yeah, plus my "unoffical" POD 18+ winners list- see my portfolio (plug) would get real big.

Well - all my lists are real big- and I have too many list. But I love lists.
My hero is Hermes (Futurma) I'm happiest when I'm making list.

I think I'll go make a list of my lists.

Another good day of entries. Don't forget to tell everyone you know to enter.
Whoa- I think i've had too much coffee. I'm going to go limp around my complex and burn some off.

Hope everyone has a great day. Hey let's go for a another 5 way tie. LOL.

Good job James -

I’ve noticed a tendency of some people to really get negative about the smallest of personal detail.  James I think (for what it worth) that you are doing an admirable job.  For me the object is to drive viewer to my work and it’s doing just fine by me.  JD you can also add my name to your list.  Thanks and have a really great day.

... the Curmudgeon is standing in for Ms. Susie tonight. She misses the contest and made me send her all of today's entries via AIM. My vote was hers. She also wanted me to post her comments:

Ms. Susie B wrote:
By the way- all of the images were given to me without me knowing who the photographer is or who some of the models are.

Ken Pegg
Brilliant idea- very well executed and it definitely made me stop and look. I got a simplistic attitude that was very humble- and with nude added into the mix- it really gave me the feeling of the fetal position- which is meaning for comfort, innocence, and pureness.

Sexy CeeCee
Good god girl- fantastic images!! The collage really put together a good display of how you move as a model and are all great images.

Fernon
and then- Ben Fernon- my dear friend. I didn't even know it was your image I voted for. You've defined that cinematic, glamour art projection that so many people try to go after. You hit it right on the nailhead with this image. Fantastic use of shadows played against the curvature of the models breasts, arms, lips, and eyes. Added in the mix is that beautiful sultry makeup is the final touch for a well produced image that everyone is proud of. Well freakin' done.

May I take this silly-ass dress off now?

I would dearly like some feedback for my entry yesterday. It was not well received and I would sure enjoy any thoughts anyone has on why. I enjoy the photo personally, and so will keep it in my gallery, but again would be very receptive to feedback.

Yea! you get my first official opinion. And remember- it's just that : : AN OPINION.

I just don't think it's a flattering image of you.

The composition is a major turnoff. You look like an amputee on your left leg, and in general the comp leads you off the page- never good.

It also appears it's been shot with a wide angle lens- which is why your thigh and your left arm (your left) are a bit "warped" looking. .. . . .

wink So it's not a problem with you dear.... chin up :0)

if not a wide angle lens- probably was standing to close . Foreshortening is a problem on a ton of otherwise good photgraphs. It is similar to the weird effect on the parallel lines of a building when you stand to close. I was taught years ago that the best way to correct it is to stand much further back and us a telephoto lens. otherwise use bellows.
As Carly says this isn't your fault. I do like the color palate- ver moody. And your expression looks on the edge of an emotion - like crying which I like as well.
Carly nailed the composition problems.
Also, sometimes the across the body arm makes it look like the model is trying to hold herself together. Loosen it up a bit.
These are just opinions as well - maybe they will help maybe they are way off.
glad to see someone else discussing a photograph.

Announcement:
I am leaving for Tampa Thursday afternoon (8-7-08).  I will be shooting Engel Schrei (I am quite literally setting her on fire) Thursday evening but I will be done in time to close the thread.

Friday my schedule is up in the air, but Saturday I am shooting the League of Amazing Women FetishCon official pre-party at Crowbar and I will be out LATE.

If the regulars would be so kind as to help me keep an eye on things here & PM me when there're issues, I'd appreciate it and if anyone's willing to cover Saturday night (possibly Friday as well) please let me know.

I will also be away Thursday thru Sunday next weekend while I work at FetCon.  Please PM me if you can assist with closing the thread.

Thanks!

OK guys- here's a new profile, but it's still good ole me....

that get's me up to (5) MMs.... and yeah- i really do use each one for a different reason... it's insane.

*what's crazy is that's how many diff email addresses I have in order to sign in- that's what really blows me away....

BUT ANYHOW: I'd like to discuss the POD> since I am new around here I was wondering if you all see a pattern to who wins, and if it is based on popularity, or perhaps even's itself out naturally.

I tend to lean towards evening out. I don't see too much of a popularity content brewing, and on his site- that's refreshing.

I posted my choice yesterday, and i'll repost that feedback here:

I voted for:

*i'm not usually a fan of "high key" black and white- call me old fashioned...

(wait- didn't i say that on a previous post?)

... but this is sooo much white with the hint of a woman... almost like her smell lingering very nice!*

and to touch on the winner:

I really like the mood and romanticism of https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pic … id=7836824
However I am just not a fan of what seems to me an awkward position. I like craig's work alot! smile Does anyone else feel this in the photo or does it just annoy me tongue

seriously. I just throw this out there b/c it's a DT and there's no D on the T.

I liked the image as well and it was going to be my vote if I needed to vote as a tie breaker.  The position is really not awkward in my eyes, just that Craig shot the image from a lower position then you see in a lot of images.  Like I posted on the image, I liked the classic romantic feel of the image.  Kind of like the from cover of a good romance novel if you could be good covers on books (bet sales would go up).

Wow - if all days could be like this one. lol I sure love it here in the Summer.

The forecast looked so good that I decided to use my 1953 Lyman Outboard Runabout as transportation to go to my morning gig. Ironically I recently told someone that sailing, motorcycles and music were being reserved as avocations ... then someone offered to hire to teach them to sail their Herreshoff 28 ketch. So much for rules, eh?

So I got to watch the sun squeeze itself out of the horizon on the way to Kelleys Island ... spent the morning and early afternoon with a great young couple in perfect eight to twelve kt breeze ... then back across the water in my little smudgepot enjoying perfect 75 degree sun.

Home in time to look at the entries and even write up some sadly missing comments.

Then supper in my Summer kitchen 18+ ... salmon grilled over local aromatic hardwood, local sweet corn and a huge bowl of blackberries I picked as the corn was roasting. Finished up the berries while enjoying that magical twighlight softness.

I feel sorry for all of you who don't live in Ohio in the Summer. lol

OK, Carly wanted more D in the T. Here's my offering for 9 August

Sweet Romance
http://modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=7881713 18+

Maybe because I've been playing with lens flare as a softening device lately ... maybe because it's you  but I like this a lot. As always you bring a ton of quiet energy, pulling things over the top.

My only niggle has nothing with you: that sharp line along the bottom of your right arm and top of breast feels to me the wrong place for emphasis - I would rather it had been your eye. Not a deal breaker though.

DGold
http://modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=7893832 18+

For unknown reasons, this is one of my favorites of yours - I think that somehow the relaxed, throughtful expression and the curl grab me.

The great mood makes up for them but two flaws that I find distracting are the blown hightlights and the shadow that the lovely curl cast on her nose.

Janet Mason
http://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=7102372 18+

Not usually a fan of anonymous nudes but I like this a lot. The optical density changes between hips and breasts were a real stroke of genius and very effective.

The distractions caused by post-production are overcome by the strength of the image but I think that doing without would have improved it. Not your doing I understand ...

Nancy Wishard
http://modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=7910386 18+

This is really nice, one of your best IMHO. Colors, composition, pose and expression all work together very well to create a dreamy, serene mood.

Niggles: I think I'd have taken a bit off the bottom to make it a little less centered; The rock in the background is a bit distracting as are the tan lines ... all could be at least softened with a bit of post production.

Very strong image in any event.

Pope Magnet
http://modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=7838932 18+

This is a great example of "not my style" lol but I like it a lot. Great concept and execution.

The colors work well and I love the DOF sharp/soft composition.

Andy Webster
http://modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=7892694 18+

This is one of the strongest images I've ever seen from you, great mood! Anne really brought it for you and you caught it - nice job.

Two things took it out of the running for me though:
The tonal range is just not there - mids and shadows muddy and highlights burned through the paper. That is a tough situation to shoot in I know ... are you are still using the ufRAW program I loaded for you? You might be able to bring it back.

The other thing I've been meaning to mention - next time I am there, will you remind me to take a look at your tripod? Seems that one leg is shorter than the others. ;-) J/K - but I think that with a little tweaking this photo could stand on its own without that compositional aid.

Zion Imaging
http://modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=7855647 18+

I liked this a lot, great mood and showed the technical ability to create a full tonal range image.

DQ'ed ... I think that it could be as 18+ as the butt crack, edge of nip or whatevah entries recently. Isn't there a "sexual content" bit in the rules? But yeah, should be at least marked as such ...

Male model's right hand a bit of a distraction but doesn't spoil it.

LeDeux Art
http://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pid=7912664 18+

Wow Jon, this is super! The softness really works in this one and you grabbed a whole fistful of mood.

The only negative for me is a sort of lack of density in the lower right corner, I think that if I were printing it I'd burn that corner in a bit ... but great job!

...

It's quarter after nine and I still haven't decided what I'm going to vote for. Sure enjoying leisure today.

... now getting toward voting time and I am being treated to a booming thunderstorm. Gotta love Ohio.

And missed the vote while engrossed in conversation with one of my very favorite women so life is very good today.

Thanks, I think.

Seriously, I don't regard this as one of my strongest images, though I do like it a lot.  Yes, the lighting was tough, but there was still fairly good range...I did a fairly quick convert to mono and more time spent there would likely have retained better detail, though I still find the result pleasing since Annie's mood and personality shine through and those elements are always most important to me.

As to the tripod, sure take a look smile.  I shoot the way I see things and frankly never thought of it as a 'compositional aid,'  but I'll give that some thought.  Still, those who know me well, know that I am off-kilter anyhow.

And a heartfelt thanks for your willingness to take the time to provide thoughtful commentary on the images.  It is very much appreciated.  As Carly says, more D in the T is a good thing!
