alien bees beauty dish
i need to find a grid for my beauty dish, the ab site doesn't have any listed. does anyone know where i can find one, and do you have any recommendations on the degree, or whatever you call the grid size. Feb 02 08 12:33 am Link Like this one? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1 … id_35.html Feb 02 08 12:48 am Link That's the one! Feb 02 08 01:08 am Link yes does that just snap into the ab dish? Feb 02 08 01:09 am Link It doesn't look like they make them specifically for AB... Aren't grids made to fit specific brand reflectors? Feb 02 08 01:28 am Link From what I've read, it just snaps im. I've heard it's a little lose, but not to the point where it falls out or anything like that. I'm pretty sure paul is making one for 2009, but who wants to wait that long... It should work fine... Feb 02 08 01:33 am Link Paul Brecht wrote: I learn something new every day... Feb 02 08 01:50 am Link I couldn't get mine to "snap in" or be "loose" Mine is too big and I have to duct tape it onto the AB dish Feb 02 08 03:14 am Link I have an AB Beauty Dish and the Speedtron Grid. The grid has some metal snaps that fit the beauty dish perfectly. Feb 02 08 03:16 am Link When I tried to use those metal snaps it just scratched the white surface of the dish. Have to look into this again Feb 02 08 03:19 am Link Has anybody used Norman? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3 … 22_15.html Feb 14 08 08:41 pm Link I ordered the Speedotron 22" grid on 1/3/08, and I still haven't gotten it yet. I last checked on it last week, and the salesman said that Speedotron didn't have any, and had to manufacture more. I should have it any day now. I never heard of this before, but the salesman has been a friend of mine for 25 years now, so I know he wouldn't BS me. Check around to see if whoever you're dealing with has one in stock. Held in place by springs that wrap around the outer lip. Mine fits pretty snugly. May 15 08 01:38 am Link I just got the Speedotron grid , via Adorama, and dang, what quality! no wonder it costs more than the AB Dish itself! even the box packaging is high class. Oct 22 08 09:24 pm Link Thanks for the illustration of with and without the grid. I was wondering why everyone was so vocal about getting one. That helps alot in understanding the difference. Oct 22 08 11:15 pm Link I tried to order a Speedotron grid from Calumet, the usual place that I get stuff like that. They sent me a notice saying that it was backordered and it would take about 4 weeks. So... I tried B & H but they are on a break due to a religious holiday. Then I remembered seeing a previous thread about the grid offered by Kacey Enterprises. The grid by itself wasn't available, but it was if you also bought the grid packaged with a carrying case for the dish. I ordered it, just got it Monday, and can't wait to use it. I got the grid and the case for about the same price as the Speedotron grid all by itself. Thanks, Kacey Enteprises!
