I almost cried when he announced no more...I love that comic more than many things...I can't belive it's been so long.  I wonder if he will ever publish any work he may have done behind the scenes over the years.

My wife was best friends with Bill's wife "Missy", in high school.  They were on the girl's track team together.  Bill would sit around after school and watch his girlfriend Missy, practice.  The first time they tried running out of the starter's blocks, my wife fell flat on her face.  The next day Bill showed up with a drawing of my wife with her chin in the track kicking up gravel with her face.  He signed it.  We have it framed.  He used to do the illustrations in the Chagrin Falls High School yearbooks.  We have those too.  I never met him, but they were sitting next to us at a Memorial Day celebration years ago.  His father was the keynote speaker at the gathering.  When the man hosting the ceremony was introducing Mr. Watterson, he made mention of his son, and Calvin & Hobbs.  He never pointed him out, and most people didn't have a clue what he looked like, but he and his wife immediately got up and left.  It was sometime later that year he moved out of the village, maybe a coincidence, but he is very reclusive.

Calvin and Hobbes was my dad's favorite comic.  We bought him all the books that came out.  When he passed away I got them all.  Of course I can't read them cause they make me cry...lol:-)

There has never been a finer comic strip in the history of the genre.

My favorite is the one where his dad explains that old B/W pictures are really color pictures of the world when everything was in B/W.  The world itself turned color sometime in the 30 or 40's.

I got the three volume complete collection for christmas last year...

Damn thing weighs 20 pounds...but it's worth every ounce of it....

At least when he stopped doing calvin and hobbes it wasn't like when Charles Schultz stopped doing the peanuts...and he dies the night before the final new strip is published...
