What's the joke?  Rape is no laughing matter... unless of course you're raping a clown.

This whole thread needs to end. 

The long and short of it is that anyone of any gender, race, age, class status, religion, sexuality, or whatever other variable can be raped.

Rape isn't something that warrants joking as it is an extremely violating and emotionally charged event for most survivors of sexual assault.

Yes, people should be careful in all the ways that have been outlined previously by others.  And of course people should do what they feel most comfortable with to ensure their own safety and security.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what other valuable information needs to be passed on, but certainly making light of a serious issue isn't the best methodology.

Sometimes people joke because it's their way of dealing with a really challenging issue (like sexual assault) and sometimes people joke because they are ignorant.

Either way, for someone who is a survivor, making light of it can be extremely emotionally damaging.

Shame on some of you.

I realize I'm just another person providing a faceless (beyond the portfolio) opinion online, but if you take anything from it, no more posts need to be made on this thread unless they are productive to the apparent original intent.
