I found stolen images of mine and profile info that I posted on MM on the front page of this web-site. I never released my images or info to this web-site company.

http://huntmodelz.com/main.php

I sent the webmaster an e-mail saying that they have to remove my information and images or I will take legal action against them.

Ladies, please check the site and make sure your info and images are not being exploited like mine are.

This site is well-known. The person who runs it has been shut down numerous times and just keeps popping back up after each host abandons him.

It's like whack-a-mole.

As far as I know, nobody has bothered to take legal action of any kind.

Even those who threaten to do so.

Hey Lacie,

I tried to do a domain search as to who owned it, and it's registration info is private
Can't find any other contact info on the site other than the email.

My guess is that this seems to me it's nothing more than a way to find not so savy people to enter their credit card info so that info can be used for identity theft...

Why else would a company not want anyone to know where and who they really are especially an agency.

The server IP 208.109.78.56 is registered through Go-Daddy, but some one register a domain  from anywhere in the world probably with false info stolen from a prior subterefuge. Could be someone in Russia or China or whereever...Certainly nothing to do with a company trying to be a real modeling agency

Thanks so much for the info. My gal pal, Tara Vidal, saw her info on the site today. She checked out the other girls and noticed my photos on there, too, and contacted me about it. We couldn't figure out why there was a credit card section, except maybe to do the whole identity theft thing. Some people never cease to amaze me...all I can say is Karma is a Bitch. lol

He's in the U.S., his name and even physical location are known, and if anyone truly wants to take action, I can put your attorney in touch with this data.

To me the solution is obvious. He plays, dirty so fight dirty.

Get a some "hacker" friends to set up a Denial of Service attack against the site. If the bandwith fees don't make him crap himself then the fact that somebody bothered to get so extreme will make him think twice.

Nice. In an effort to harm him, you take down everyone else in the shared server farm, putting hundreds, if not thousands of others out of commission, not to mention costing the hosting company time and money.

Real mature, sir.

Fail.

Yeah, they have me there too. They have my last name, which makes me think they got me from OMP a long time ago, not MM since I never had my last name here. Who knows. Welcome to Internet indeed.

Second of all, don't assume you know the network configuration of GoDaddy's Servers not to mention the particulars of the configuration used by our much hated scammer friend.

Per my quick check, There were a number of other companies using   the ns33 domain  and that IP Address but strangley not listed is huntmodelz.com

http://www.robtex.com/dns/ns33.domaincontrol.com.html

Also uses ns34 which a has a different IP

It will be a shame to see them go.. I did a model search in WA to see if they stole any of my pics.  They didn't, but I found a 21 year old "African American" with blond hair and blue eyes!  Wow, now that is something I MUST get in my port!  smile  Course he looks Caucasian to me but ports don't lie!  Who ever is stealing isn't matching the info with pics very well.. smile  Kinda funny!

First of all, advocating illegal activity is a violation of this site's TOS.
Second of all, I suspected Christopher does know the the configuration of GoDaddy's servers but it does not take a genius to figure out that a fly by night site like that is not going to be running on a dedicated server.

Oh, you slay me!

You don't know who I am, do you? Let's just say that I do, in fact, know the network configuration of GoDaddy's servers and leave it at that.

I'll stop now rather than take the brigging for what I'd really like to say to you.

I'll 2nd that advocating illegal activity is forbidden on MM.  Do so at your peril.

Furthermore, my professional web site is hosted at godaddy, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't partake of activity that would prevent my potential clients from access to it.  It's a tiny website without a ton of traffic (compared to many other sites), so there's no sense in spending the cash for a dedicated server.

So yes, fucking with my revenue stream is "Waaah Waaah Waaah" indeed.

There are ways to deal with it that are just as effective and less illegal.

Photographers, register your images with the US Copyright Office.  If you do so, you can get all regular fees, plus statutory punitive damages up to $150,000, plus damages for removal of copyright notices (watermarks), plus lawyers fees.  Lawyers jump at such cases because they are open and shut cases and are usually settled out of court for triple fees plus costs.  If you don't register, you can only get them to cease and desist plus only ordinary fees; any costs for lawyers and collecting are out of your pocket.

You can batch register hundreds of images at a time.  Here's a good tutorial:  ASMP Tutorial and Practical Guide on Copyright Registration.

Photographers outside of the US can register and then you can also sue for US assets of scoundrels.

Models, if they don't have your model release, you may be able to sue them with a lawyer on a contigency basis for damages to reputation, etc.

I am not a lawyer, I am a photographer.

You're assuming the person doing this has money...
It's one thing to win a case and be rewarded damages...
It's a whole other thing to actually collect

Not much point in sueing someone without money, because
your legal fees may easily exceed anything you'll ever get
back in return...

Been there, done that...you can always sue on principle
But principles don't  pay the bills

That's a good web site for locating a person when you have their real IP.  They might be hiding behind a proxy server however.

That's a legit site. I've hired models from there before.

I doubt it was the site stealing the pics so much as someone else using them. Kinda like myspace thievery.

With all due respect, it is not a legit site.

The owner steals profiles from other sites to make it appear as if his site is full-featured and used. Many models fall for this and set up profiles, themselves - so if you happened across any of them, you may have hired them, neither of you knowing that the site was built upon a base of stolen work.

Many models don't even know they're on there, but when you contact them, they presume it's some kind of service, or that you saw them elsewhere. They don't even make the connection.

But make no mistake, the person behind this has done this on many other, previous sites. It's not legit in any way.

If you got value from it and didn't have to pay him, I say more power to you wink

I'd still like to see him shut down, but, as I said, it's whack-a-mole and from what my sources tell me, he has no assets anyway, so anyone suing him would be trying to get blood from a turnip, as it were.

Yeah, I didn't run the credit card myself, that was done by my client who I was shooting for. Nothing was charged though, it's apparently just there so that they don't have just random anyones looking through the site or some shit.

Now I'm more glad that it wasn't my card.

FYI for everyone.

1.  Godaddy has been notified of the copyright violations.
2.  domainsbyproxy has been notified of the copyright violations.

Both companies have very specific rules concerning copyright infringements.  With luck they will respond in the next few days.

If domainsbyproxy deems the complaint is valid they will drop the owner and update the godaddy information with the real owners information.

If godaddy finds the complaint valid they can, and have in the past, shut down the service for the offender.

Keep your fingers and toes crossed, buy some extra popcorn and let the show begin.
