Amputee Fetish Film
According to Wikipedia, apotemnophilia is "the erotic interest in being or looking like an amputee," and the fetish is the focus of a new film starring Nick Stahl and Vera Farmiga: "Quid Pro Quo." (movie trailer) Sarah May Scott, a blogger with a T4/5 SCI, blogs "Some Thoughts on Apotemnophilism." http://maydayprdx.blogspot.com/2008/06/ … ilism.html "I feel conflicted about this movie, because I am of the opinion that any depiction of wheelchair users as sexual is a good thing. Really, any depiction at all will do, because we are largely an invisible minority to a lot of people, and the only way to change that is to raise awareness. So for me a feature film that explores sexuality within a disability context is a move in the right direction, no matter how awful the subtext of the film might be. I seriously doubt that the film will drive home what wannabes are really seeking, which I believe to be permanent victim hood. Jun 23 08 10:16 pm Link You know what.... judging by the cover artwork, it sure looks like a much more artistic vision than any other erotic shit I've seen around. She herself uses a wheelchair. http://maydayprdx.blogspot.com/2008/06/ … ilism.html Jun 23 08 10:19 pm Link Speaking of amputee fetishits, do you read Bizarre Magazine?? If so, have you seen the latest issue of this beautiful amputee fetish model?? Jun 23 08 10:30 pm Link Yes, there have been a couple of threads about her and others https://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=296152 What is different about the people in this movie is that they convince doctors to remove perfectly healthy limbs because they want to be amputees. Jun 24 08 02:33 am Link I'm interested in seeing this film, as I hear that the young woman in it is supposed to suffer from BIID, which isn't really a fetish at all but more a mental/neurological disorder (it isn't yet clear what causes it). Jun 24 08 03:00 am Link it's mysterious Jun 24 08 04:14 am Link Fetishism is an interesting thing. If you study it from a clinical point of view, you will find out all kinds of studies and tests conducted about behavior that comes from fetishism. The most interesting, to me, is that many people who enter into relationships based on fetishism eventually break up if one of the partners is no longer interested in the fetish. In other words, usually at least one of the parties is only interested in the other as a vehicle for the fetish. So this guy who is saying "anything depicting wheelchairs as sexual is a good thing" is way off the mark. Based on a study about women who are attracted to fat men, what happens is that the person with the fetish often cannot have normal relationships with people because they are so obsessed with their fetish. And when they do get into a relationship, the fetish is the driving force behind it. Say the man loses weight, the partner will lose interest since the partner wasn't really necessarily interested in the man to begin with. Do realize this doesn't suggest all fetishists have this problem. It's more about those people who have fetishes which control their lives to some degree. In fact, look at it from a bigger picture point of view... we all have our prior "conditions" in a mate, some are quite physical and when that physical condition goes away, we may lose interest. That's the problem with "wheelchair fetishism". What happens when the guy can walk again? Jun 24 08 07:01 am Link Here's an article on this topic that originally appeared Village Voice, April 24, 2007... http://mrnizz.blogspot.com/2007/04/i-ju … on-it.html More about this at: Apotemnophilia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apotemnophilia ... aka ... It's actually very good write and read on the subject at hand. Quid Pro Quo on IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414426/ Plus did you all know that an amputee was the guy who played the liquid metal terminator in the scene in Terminator 2 where he is stuck to the floor with liquid nitrogen.
