Why or why not? The money is good. What would keep you from shooting porn, softcore or hardcore?
Does it go against your morals? Would it take too much of your artistic expression out of photography? Family reasons? Already successful in commerical or fashion?

I backshot for a friend of mine, she has a video production company  .  .  .  turned out to be VERY strange, I only lasted half a day  .  .  .  wink  Great locations, stunning looking "actors", and I'm certainly no prude, just was surreal  .  .  .

Nah, I'm simply not interested.  I wouldn't get anything redeeming out of it besides the cash,  my wife would be extremely against it, I wouldn't be able to show my family, etc.

But all external reasons aside I just don't want to.  It does nothing for me as an artist.  I'm involved in other forms of adult entertainment like shooting promos for strip clubs, plus a lot of my modeling clientele are strippers, etc., but porn is a different story and it wouldn't help my career.

About 15 years ago, I did location sound for a few Playboy style videos (no porn, just single girl nudity) and that was interesting, but after a couple minutes the novelty wares off. As for photography and porn, I'm always up for a challenge. Nobody has asked me yet, but I think it would be a giggle to shoot something like that. Would I feel artistically compromised? Well, that would be the challenge, to make it look unique in some way. I'd rather shoot porn than a girl standing on some train tracks wrapped in caution tape.. to me, that's gross.. :-P

I did for a year or so while in Atlanta several years ago.  I would do it again if I needed the money, meaning I shot box covers and was a videographer.  I never performed big_smile  I wanted to, but I am, shall we say, not well endowed big_smile

I shoot for some small town girls with adult web sites and the concepts often cross back and forth between soft-core porn and full nudity.  I was a little uncomfortable the first time or two because it was a long-time friend who was posing and she asked me because she trusted me.  But after the first hour it became easier.  After the 3rd shoot, it was second nature.

One thing I can say - there is good money in it.  I make more money from these couple of girls shooting pictures for their adult web sites than other types of modeling shots (which always seem to be TF**).

Getting the wife to trust me took a little time but I always ask her to go with me, and she never does.

Don't worry, there's a market for everything. Especially some new girls can'ts start out that "big" if you know what I mean. wink

To the OP, do it if you don't see anything morally wrong with it and your friends and family will support you. It is good money! But also, think about that fact that will you do this for the rest of your life? Will doing porn prohibit your future goal career or dreams? But hey, plenty of pornstars quit the business and now are making Hollywood films. Very hard for them to break into Hollywood, but I'm seeing that hopefully in the future people will be more open-minded and lenient. Goodluck!

Compliment note: (don't take as an offense)
You're cute, natural, girl next door type of deal. You'll be a big hit! I'll watch you bump-uglies anyday! smile

I don't really have any type of moral obligations that would prevent me from doing so, so if the opportunity came up.....I'd definitely do it.  It's a paycheck afterall, even if I hated it I would still do it if the money were good.  Afterall, my job sucks monkey nuts and I still have to go there everyday and I don't get to use a camera nor do I make decent money.

I'd shoot porn.. or at least try it and then decide whether it's something I feel comfortable of doing or not.

There's jizz flying in the lens of the videographer, I'm assuming it gets on the photographer as well and that's just a bit too much for me.

I don't have moral objections to it though, so I'd shoot it in a hazmat suit of some sort.

It depends on who the model is and whether the shoot has anything interesting or creative to offer.

Only if I got paid a LOT of money to shoot it.
(since I couldn't use the photos anywhere they certainly wouldn't do anything for my portfolio)

I'd need one of those nifty stage names too!

When you shoot male models the lines are often pretty blurred.

Often tasteful nudes are still used as jerk off material by your average gay male. I'm not so sure that it makes it porn.... but it's still being used as porn.

But lets face it, men will jerk off to just about anything.

In summary, yes I'd shoot porn.... and I also think many of you straight guys are already shooting it... you just call it 'Glamour Photography'.

I have nothing against it, just never been approached to shoot it, nor have I approached anyone with the idea.

Leaving in a small town would make finding talent difficult, plus with the plethora of free porn on the internet, I'm not sure it would be much of a money maker.

Also there is still a stereotype attached to folks that work in the adult industry, wrongfully so, but it's still there.

Well I haven't shot outright porn. But most of my female models tend to be strippers. And a couple of my male models have been in Sean Cody movies so I have worked with people in the industry. I'm not opposed to it though cause you make good money.

To Danger Ninja,

More than one word reply's tend to help in internet correspondence. Although your photography is mature, your reply's are not.

What I was saying is, one persons high art, is another persons pornography. If any moderately conservative christians saw you work, they would brand some of it porn.

I would disagree. I believe it is very good photography with an incredible amount of imagination and truly artistic in it's own way.

Please sit and digest this before you reply.

I did a Penthouse style shoot once for someone, but you'll never see it posted anywhere (at least not by me and the agreement was to keep my name off it).  Seemed weird to have a camera in certain places taking pictures of certain things from various angles.  Playboy-style, no problem, I do those whenever the model asks for it (believe it or not, I don't offer to shoot it, it has to be requested), and I don't post much of that stuff in my port, I like to keep it at least at a PG-13 rating (out of 100 pics, I think only 5 are nude in anyway!)...  I like the challenge of taking something that my friends/family would consider completely raunchy and making it glamorous with lighting, angles, poses and whatnot to just make it look sensual without being too risque, even if my photography name suggests otherwise...  ;-)
