I'm headed back to Vegas in April, and both Sha's list and your list will certainly come in handy.

Thank you for posting this, both of you.

omg...this thread is amazingly dead.

we should have some sort of...thing...to pep it up. it used to be on the front page all the time. some sort of thing organized by someone who isn't me. someplace interesting, but not someplace far away. lol

Yup - I've been doing meetup.com stuff lately, which has been fun.

On a side note - anyone been watching that ad on CL gigs? "inventory photographer needed" it's been like 13 goddamn weeks, and you still haven't found someone? lol.

I would so try out for that but I don't think I'm good enough.

today's 8.5 hour gig in the sun (soccer league) makes me want to shoot mirrorless starting about 12 hours ago.

a tripod would've made me want to take up accounting rather than a mirrorless camera.

That's better than shooting concerts for the last 2 days.

It's not a legitimate ad. There are different versions of it but basically they are running the ad to get responses to build a database. You respond and up goes your spam on camera gear, photo classes, etc.

BLM Public Land last I knew.

BLM does not mean public nor free for photo shoots. You have to have a permit on any BLM land for a shoot which you get paid for. That makes it a "commercial" shoot. Good luck explaining to a BLM ranger that you are doing a "hobby" shoot when you are there with 3 models and a hair and makeup team.

I steer clear of that lakebed for the most part and go further south to the one at Stateline. Same deal there though.

Just thought I'd pop in and say howdy. I've been battling cancer in my neck for the past 6 months so I have barely picked up a camera or anything else for that matter. Looks like we got it all so hopefully I'll get the motivation to go out and shoot more.
