Haoyuan Ren wrote: Hey everyone, thought I'd join in on the fun. I'm new to the Vegas MM scene. Several familiar faces here in the sense that I see the photographers' work on the pages of many models. Is there regular meet and greets organized?

Welcome Ren...thanks for coming by.
feel right at home if you can, and post some outtakes, BTS(behind the scenes) or some pics as a photographer.
As far as the meet and greets, nothing yet is solid, but we are trying to build a buzz first with new photographers and models to let them know this is a community thread, and we are attempting to bring level headed/minded people together for shootouts or dinners, or just shop talk.
Ren, know of any studios, or cool locations you care to reveal to us...

Hi! I am so excited to find the thread again...just wanted to pop in to say hello to everyone...feels like ages since the shoot-out. Sure hope everyone's healthy and happy!!!
I've gone out and gotten myself a little camera and started a photography course...learning the basics, but having a blast. Sure, I'm working three different jobs right now...but photography is SUCH FUN! It's nothing like the coursework I remember from uni. Doesn't even feel like class.
Miss spending time with all, when is the next meet and greet???

hey hey its Tamee.. whats up sweety pie.. we're sure glad you made it... anyways we are looking for more people to get on here a start a strong buzz for a Meet and Greet. We also are semi looking for new places to shoot as well. We are giving the "stink eye" to clubs that require people to pay to be a part of their shoots and events. As far as the Meet & Greet better make it fast, "i see travel plans for me within 30 days or sooner."
so says the fortune cookie i got at Krazy Buffet on Cimarron and Sahara~~
I was scouting on the strip for nearly 4 hours. It rained the moment I walked out of NYNY and kept on raining when I decided to go home 3 hours later. Tonight would've been prime for my shoot at the locations with all the reflections of EVERYTHING, too bad it was only scouting.
When we as photographers are amped and ready to shoot.. and the GODS above are nice to give us some cool weather for a change ... these are my excuses that a model might have for passing up a shoot day or night.
1) Models will only shoot when they are ready
2) Models need 3 weeks to prepare.
3) Models prefer shooting in the peak hours of the mid day sun
4) Models will rarely come out after 11pm for a shoot, but will party til 3am
5) Models will reply once to your casting call, then you reply within hours, but thier follow up response is 4 weeks later

Can you top that with a better escuse....
Model says her dog ate her homework but she really has a cat.
Found another pic I shot at the Huntridge. I was still learning composition and directing models and I shot pretty much everything wide. Who am I kidding, I still shoot wide (I just stand closer).
Oh yeah, the red hair girl, her eyes are open. That's the best pic I found of those two.
I think this was back in March or something. It was still cold outside and we didn't start till almost 1:00AM. Prime shooting hours if I do say so myself.
Mike and Dee doing work.
Best photo assistant ever. My bud Deontae.
Mario, the test model.
M&M
Setting up for a long exposure.
Drunken people adding to the fun.
I guess that's what we do when the model is changing. Take pictures of ourselves.
Note: no pandas were harmed in the making of this shoot.
Oh Harold the memories of us doing "stuff" when models used to be down to come out at night.... but now adays my photographer friends have more "spirit and spunk" than models who demand "PAID ASSIGNMENTS ONLY"
This is "self explanatory"
Harold posing for me outside Red Rock Casino
Harold setting up the light sync on the remote
Harold eye'in that last piece of pizza
This is Texas Angel and Harold in between a session
NO POLAR BEARS WERE HURT DURING THE IMAGE PLACING OF THESE PHOTOS
it was a las vegas based car club group. You looked like another photographer from that group, but i hadn't see him in years so i wasn't sure. i thought i'd ask lol

That's cool. So there's someone out there as sexy as me. Right on. I'm only a part of this tight knit group and the witness protection program. But you're not suppose know that.
so I traded my sigma 30 1.4 for a 85 1.8, was a pretty good deal for me if I do say so myself. posted it on craigslist and someone responded with an offer to trade for the same focal length I was looking to buy. Though integrating an 85 into my shooting style is going to be really really tough.

Any news on organized meet?
Ahh, so you're the guy that was seling that sigma. I was eyeballing that but alas, I have no money. I hear the 85mm f/1.8 is a great lens for portraits. You should have fun using it.
I don't know about organize but I'm down to kick it.

oh, I figure that and a monopod. I have 2 vivitar 285 HV and I would love to have another but I don't paid tll Monday and I'm more than broke right now.
I sold a bunch of things to fund my new bag, I got the Lowepro Classified 160. It's small and inconspicuous, comfortable and holds all my primes and camera. What bag does everybody use here?

right now I have a case logic something or other that hold a laptop and dslr. Only thing is if you put the laptop in it, it's real uncomfortable to wear. With the laptop everything is a tight fit. Also you have to take the lens off the body for it to fit. I have a rather big lens and would like to keep it mount all the time. Actually I have 2 big lens 24-70 f/2.8 and a 70-200 f/2.8 and they barely fit. I also have a lowepro slingshot aw 100 that's for sale. More of a journalistic type bag.
I want to get a domke f-1x.
I only have one prime lens and I love it but don't use it as much as I should. It's the nifty fifty 50mm f/1.8

i have a tamrac, but my equipment list has outgrown it. If i want to shoot with more then 2 lenses I have to pack a duffel bag. I can't wait to get a new bag
i have the 24-70 too but it's just too big and heavy, attracts quite a bit of attention. i keep it in the case that I may need a zoom, but really i haven't ran into any situations where I may need one.

That's cool. That's my work horse lens. I pretty use it for everything. I only have the sigma and the 70-200 is a tamron. I couldn't justify pay over a $1,000 + for lens. Not yet anyway. I want to get more prime lenses. I want the 85mm f1.4, 20mm 2.8 and maybe 60mm 2.8. Not right now though. Someday maybe.
I see a lot of people having the 20 2.8. My 24 was a pass me down so it's a manual lens. The 24-70 though, I bought it before the price hiked for 1.4. Now it went up another 300ish?
I don't remember to much about 2008. That was kind of my freshmen year here. But this year so far, I would say Megan Taechon K MM # 874796. She truly wants to be a model. She has the right attitude, spunk and personality. I actually think she's going to make in this industry.
I love Megan Jane MM # 880846 enthusiasm and willingness to do anything to get the shot. She can convey emotion very well. She's very expressive in all her images.
I guess there's something about the Megans.
But that's my opinion (what do I know, all I do is press a button).
I haven't started models until recently, a year ago I was taking pictures of... Things that are not so exciting.
Though I've shot a number of them this year, I know I haven't met that model yet. I'm going to Shanghai for half a year in a couple of months, hope I meet some killer models there.
