Thanks Charles. You really want to know how I shot that? Ok, I just used one flash hand held (because I was lazy to break out a lightstand) set on TTL (it's like auto, again lazy) and messed around with the ISO till I got the background the way I liked it. The aperture was wide open at f/2.8 and the flash trigger wirelessly with nikon CLS. It's not a perfect picture I just felt like posting it.

I mess around with setting till I  get it the way I like it (somewhat). Models and others always ask "whats the plan?" I don't have a plan most f the time, I have a general idea and wing it from there. Real professional, right?

Hey, I shoot myself all the time. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm my best model.

has this ever happen to you.  maybe its just me. but damn i felt like it was a waste of my time and energey to "salespitch" to this girl

contacted a model... on monday the 17th of july
she responsed on the 21st, saying shes interested
(the usual ping pong back and forth to shoot ideas)
have the date set for today (sunday the 26th)
confirmation via phone and MM mail, and model is 100% on board
1 minute to go until she arrives, let me see if theres any last minute snafu..

"this member has been blocked by you or by the model, you are not allowed to contact her"

It's hasn't happen to me but I do get the last minute "can't make it" and they do give a reason at all. Just move on I guess.

You spend too much time and energy with models. Some of your best work is on the fly and impromptu. When you spend all these countless emails and messages, for some reason, it just makes the flake/cancel percentage go up. Why the Fuck did she block you though?

This happened to me from a casting call once

I replied to a casting call from a girl that i was interested in shooting. All i said was "Im totally interested if you are, check out my portfolio and see if I'm what your looking for."

after about a week and no reply or answer and no other replies to the casting call. i thought I would send her an email asking her again in case she doesn't check the casting very often. When i went to send her a message I got the same reply,
"this member has been blocked by you or by the model, you are not allowed to contact her"

I think Ive only blocked one photographer on this site and the reason is because he would comment stuff about other work in my port. Saying his stuff was better and his work should be in my port. I didnt like how he was dis-respecting the other photographers I worked with, so I blocked him. He was also commenting and tagging wierd stuff on the pages of models and photographers I had worked with.Thats my only 'Blocked" member story

I only skim through it but it seem like a great idea. And you know that Las Vegas (and I hear somewhere in Canada) is the convention capital of the world.

+1 Ive made my points in that thread. Lets see what they will do about it. Its also probably one of the cheapest places to fly to, theres always great deals on Hotels, and like I said in the thread IF IT SUCKS, AT LEAST THERES THE STRIP lol

I kinda liked your idea too Mike. Some people would bitch about location, so why not make it accessible to some of the other regions of the map. I mentioned one other thing too though, and that is that Model Mayhem has members all over the world. Do you really think someone traveling from the UK is gonna be like "OH WOW!! I cant wait to go to that convention in the middle of Freakin No where!" No. But I see more people saying "I cant wait to go to VEGAS" Its one of the more popular spots of the country. Everybody knows what it is and would be more familiar with it.

~~ you make it prepaid.  simple as that. With some policies like so... but who am i, im just some scrub  here in las Vegas

Any member of MM with valid account is subject to a $100 pre-registartion fee.
this will seperate the serious from the bullshitters

Any MM meber must have their account longer than 2 years their TAG section and photo activity must be recent (within 3 months of new photos).
this rule will/could prove there are serious models left on MM that are not like the rest, they do wanna network

Any guest not affliated with MM is subject to a $150 guest fee to attend banquet, shootouts, or dinners. Paid entried will get a seperate wrist band that must stay on for the wehole weekend
this will stop slackers, escorts, boyfriends and wanna be's from tagging along, and stop insecure models from bring'in their dead weight...i think

Thats the only one I dont agree with. According to that, I wouldnt even be able to attend. lol For reals, Unless it happens after December of this year.

Plus, the last shoot I did was in June, and I got FUCKED OVER without gettin any pics from it. Im not shootin till after october, so once again, i wouldnt be able to attend. lol

I say, keep the doors open to all members. MAYBE at least 6 months, but dont cut out possible people who will be adding to the event. I think a 'newbie' who just started here and wanted to to network would want to attend more than some of the more 'stuck up, pay my rates, pay my rates, me me me' models who have been here for a few years smile

The thread we were talkin about is located at the top of my page. Read through that whole thread. Its just a thought that went through some peoles minds about doin a convention. In VEGAS, it was a pain in the ASS to have people just meet up at a place and network

here are a couple others that show the place a little. There are a ton more but don't want to flood the thread
