Ok gang, listen up!

I have secured access to an amazing upscale and elegant turn of the 20th century theater location.  I am proud to be able to open this venue to a limited number of artists.  We will have up to 10 photographers and 10 models.  I am keeping the ration at 1:1 so that we are afforded the chance to have plenty of time shooting this amazing location.

On October 25th, 2009, we will have full access to shoot in this elegant facility that was built in 1906.  This facility is, to quote from the facility website, “a glittering example of Italian Renaissance architecture with its marble terrazzo floors, graceful archways and ornate decorative details – 1,800 pounds of gold leaf, 100 pounds of bronze and 4,000 pounds of ribbon gold in pilaster moldings. Murals designed by Hungarian artist Willy Pogany adorned the north and south walls of the auditorium. The seats were originally upholstered in Spanish leather and a spectacular 2,800-pound crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. The Strand prospered during the days of silent film in the Roaring 20’s, withstood the Depression in the 30’s and continued to show movies until the birth of shopping centers and the residential growth of suburbia.”

This location is ideal for shooting authentic period images based upon roaring 20’s themes, early vaudeville, as well as early 20th century style clothing.  The theater offers an elegant and upscale backdrop and we will have full access to the stage, balconies, lobbies, and various nooks and crannies of not just one, but TWO theater locations.

The shoot will begin at approximately 10:00 am and will run until at least 6:00 pm.  I am limiting this event to 10 photographers and 10 models and the initial plan is to have 5 models and 5 photographers in each theater for approximately 4 hours.  Each photographer will be granted approximately one hour of shooting time with each of the 5 models in that location.  After the initial 4 hours, we will switch groups and locations and will shoot for an additional 4 hours using the same format.  After this, if there is a desire to do additional shooting, we can break up and shoot for additional time as agreed upon by the parties.

The cost for attending this event will be $75 for photographers.

I will be rather selective on both the models and the photographers that are chosen to participate in this event as I will not really have the opportunity to provide much in the way of instruction, guidance, or technical support to those participating in this event.  If you are interested in attending an event with more of training and teaching opportunity, message me for more info regarding my November event.  Message me if interested in attending!

Some sample images from the location.  Granted, they are not the best, but will give an idea of the space we will be working with:

I know I am probably going to regret this, but I'm in .. I have been trying to rent the Regal Theater in town here with no luck whatsoever, but this is more along the lines of what I was looking for ..

Models --

Here's my thoughts on shoot ideas --

1) Usher -- selling popcorn old school
2) Skeleton in chair stealing popcorn from model
3) Stage work -- elegant gown, long flowing --
4) Slasher -- movie playing in background while model flees from killer
5) The chatty movie goers.. Some interaction between yappy movie goers and model.. could involve violence ..
6) Rocky horror ?? maybe something along those lines
7) Abe Lincoln assassination by model .. Betty Booth smile
8) Fishing.. Ya, it sounds dumb, but fishing over the edge of a balcony..
9) The dead Pool .. Dead movie goers.. covered in cobwebs -- rotten popcorn
10) fire ! .. a burning theater with models running for cover
11) The Tingler.. In old days, they put electric tinglers under the seat and zapped the movie goers on cue from the movie..
12) The shocking movie -- Not porn but something a little over the edge on the screen and model is staring with super shocked look on her face.
13) The message -- model zoned and hypnotized with a message on the screen that says something like (Shop now... buy shoes...) .. could be interesting.
14) The nude (no, not nude, but it just looks like that.. shot from behind, model appears nude (but is covered by back of seat).. Guy walking down the isle taking a second look ..
15) Parasite -- some sort of gooey cheesy looking parasitical stuffed toy or something crawling down the aisle while model reels with fright (cheesecake b movie style)
16) Movie smokers.. yes, they allowed that years ago.. but we would fake the smoke.. a cloud around  a few models with some unhappy nearby movie goers.
17) The pleased -- model standing up and cheering during some sort of guy revenge scene on movie
18) Phantom of the Opera --
19) The birds -- yes, birds could be invading the theater .. eating patrons and stealing their ID..
20) The scary part -- model covering eyes and screaming grabbing a nearby patron that is not with her by the leg!!

I have 200 more but I'm tired..

Count me in, but if this goes over like a fart in church, I will cease to photograph models and will just purchase mannequins and stuffed animals and retreat to my studio to be seen nevermore.

Oh you know I have dirty ideas too..

But also a 50's style guy trying to bust a move and put his arm around girlfriend.. That could be great if any models bring escorts.. Could do it with 2 girls too if you want to help me earn a reputation of being a perv (which I'm not).

Could have a girl reaching into a box of popcorn and discovering something, but rather than eek poor me, shes' squeezing with all her might and the guy is in some serious trouble.

Could have a girl lying in the aisle covered in popcorn, footprints, candy etc..

A falling off the balcony shot

A play -- more of an editorial shot

The upside down girl.. 2 models, one sitting up watching movie, and the other upside down with just her legs sticking up..

Dressed to kill -- silhouette of model far back in aisle..

butterflies -- ya. mushy shot with a girl walking down the aisle with a bucket of butterflies..

If you want to go off the beaten path into artistic zone.. Model could be carrying a huge trout or fish, while other model is combing the aisle slapping people with hers..

The Fury - levitation shot (in photoshop) .. hovering above a small audience..

Contrast shot.. A bunch of punked out rockers sitting watching some sort of kids cartoon or kid movie of sorts.

The lucky guy -- a guy in the center of a few models all turned slightly towards him and he's gushing

Oops - A guy trying to get to his seat in front of a few models, but he's stepping on their toes..

A blow up doll/mannequin in the seat.. (my special friend)

A pinup style shot -- model bending showing her (covered) bum in a 50's style pinup shot as she leans over to pick up her popcorn container.

The garbage girl -- covered in wrappers, and popcorn containers and drinks she bought for the show.. like a messy room only it's all on her seat.

The phantoms.. A few models as previous actresses revisiting the theater to watch a rerun of a movie they starred in.. An emo tear filled scene and they are swooning to the audience.

The Scream Death -- stabbed from the back of the seat.. blade coming through in front..

Ok, I know I need help.. I take meds.. seriously.. smile

AHahahahahah .. Reefer Madness -- Nuff said

I just got off the phone with my contact at the location.  I am happy to report that the facility has NO PROBLEM whatsoever if nudes are shot at the location.  Obviously, nothing pornographic or tasteless will be allowed, but we have a complete and total green light to shoot any artistic images we want.  Sorry Keven.  I hope this does not change your mind about attending as I know you are easily offended.  smile

In addition, I can increase the numbers of those participating to 10 models and 10 photographers.  Let's make this event rock!

So, who else wants in?

I'm not offended by nudes, but if I shoot them, they must have a purpose.. Naked chick on a theater seat doesn't strike me as a purpose, but .. Naked usher girl with hat and carrying tray (cigars, cigarettes... popcorn.. soda) .. could work

or, the model walkign up the aisle, and her dress etc gets caught on a seat.. .. again, not a real purpose, but more than .. just get nekkid for me..

Oh hell, I'll get naked too.. (after you turn out the lights and all plug your noses)

Or, we could just shoot boring deer in the headlights stares with rigid poses and angel wings and caution tape.

Seriously though.. are there any taller models going to be here ?? I have a high fashion idea

Ok, shall I take you off the list?  lol

I agree though.  I am not looking to turn this into a nude shoot.  In fact, I know at least a couple of the models will not shoot nudes and that is perfectly acceptable.  I just wanted to communicate that, those models that are comfortable with shooting nudes (and the photographers with ideas for such images) are free to shoot them.  We are not prohibited from shooting nudes and we are, similarly, not required to.  smile

Au contraire mes ami -- I'll shoot whatever.

If you want me to bring a goat in lingerie with peanut butter on her nipples and a pink lace hat and high heel shoes.. I'll do it.

The environment there looks amazing, and put one of these beautiful models in there, and well.. It will be heaven for any photographer.

I don't have to shoot dark scary stuff, my mind just went off on a tangent.

I just think traditional photography in such a vintage place would be a waste of said opportunity.

Taller models...

.... I think my heart just broke a little.  sad

LOL.  I'll get over it.  And HEY, I want to wear the other latex dress before you give it away.

And I'm down for the pretending to fall off the balcony idea.  You know me and my love for poses where I ca potentially fall off of something high off the ground.

And I think it's safe to say that Adam won't be inviting the drama crew....  *shudders from the memory*

Also thinking a really formal gown...
