I will be body painting a model completely white. (with Ben Nye "geisha white" and setting it with Ben Nye "pure white) but I want the whole body to have a cracked, peeling paint effect.

should I use a different product? Or different application?

Thanks all for your help=)

You'll have to experiment. The amount of cracking you need will vary greatly depending on the lighting, cropping and composition of the shot.

Don't be surprised if you have to accent cracking with hand-painted textures.

Some brands have a reputation for cracking more than others.

Try mixing body paint with corn starch, talcum powder, clay mask powder (some of the best images I've seen used spa clay powder).... just do NOT use craft products like Tempera. I'm waiting for someone to chime in with that suggestion.

Thickness of application will encourage cracking.

But, the thicker the product, the longer it takes to dry.
I've had wonderful success with cracking paint - but it took an hour to dry.

Also, body hair will affect the finish.

What has worked for me:  Apply the body paint thick, use a combination hurricane fan and hair drier (low to medium heat - DON'T cook your model!) to start speed-dry the paint.  As it gets to be a bit less-than-tacky to the touch, mist it with water and then continue drying.  Do the misting/drying a couple of times.  You should get some real cracking all over.  I usually have help doing this as sometimes you have to be fast with the re-moistening in between drying stages.
