That's why the geeks gave us the AV setting and for the Nikon peeps, the A setting..

It's not whimpy to use the that setting...  Particularly if it saves post time..

i don't think my F3's come off that setting, i'd be using the camera's internal light meter anyway..

Hey Tampa folks: Just had my first shoot of 2013 today. The shoot involved a Buell, a big over stuffed chair and a very talented model.

This is a Buell:

Cool Bike...coming from a non-biker.  I just hope you had the bike "well decorated" with something a bit softer.  smile

it saddens me, as a rider, that America doesn't produce a world class sport bike.

At the airport coming home I'm sitting there and this SMOKING HOT chick sits down directly across from me. When she takes a break from burning up her cell I hand her one of my lawyer cards.
She's like OH MY GAWD! I'm a lawyer too!
She hands me one of her cards.
She's a 24 year old lawyer in the DR trying to get into the US
She's coming up to visit her sister, who is a model in Miami

We chat for an hour about everything, cases, money, work, etc...

Finally I'm like...OK let me get this right...
You are 24
You are SMOKING HOT
You are Italian and Dutch (She was white with Blonde hair)
A lawyer in the DR that speaks English
Your sister is a Model
Your mom is a professional Chef

I'm like...if your dad owns a liquor store I'm going to need to take a knee to ask you to marry me right now

She's like...He's a wine merchant...is that close enough?

I'm like...bingo

This one may end up costing me another house

The 5200 is 24MP vs 16MP of the 7000 and way cheaper.  The wireless thingie looks cool.  Full HD Video like the 7000.  Save money and hopefully the build quality is all there.  I'd get the 5200!  Return it if you don't like it.  That's what I would do!

It all depends on what are you planing to do with it.  The D5200 does have more megapixels but cannot use AF lenses, not that matters much these days, but it could.  If you are probably not going to use it professionally, the D5200 might be a better solution.

The D7000 is a mide-level camera and not an entry level so many more professional type of features are available.  It's weather sealed.

You can check a more comprehensive comparison here:

thanks you two smile

i've made pros and cons of each and my lists are equal sad

i like the 5200's flip out screen for vid work,  however i think that may cause a way quicker malfunction as it's constantly getting shoved around and it is not weather sealed like the 7000

the pixel difference is lost as i'm doing web work with them and not giant prints.

the price difference is basically nothing so thats not a big factor.

on the one hand i tend to think the newer the better for features like speed and senisitivity,  but the 7000 looks more professional in size and has dual card slots which makes shooting photo and video on separate cards nice.

the red is cool looking, however it's not as professional looking
Now if either of them came in yellow i'd already have made my decision lol

the 7000 has been out a couple years and been awesome and still awesome,  wheras the 5200 is new and they may just release another improvement really quick like the 5100 to 5200 that renders the 5200 value crap compared the the standalone awesome 7000 which has maintained a good standing since it's release sad

my list is so long on both that this has gotten way over complicated UGGGHHH

I want to buy it tonight so i can just get it here and worry about the rest later.

If color accuracy is important, then the D7000 over the D5200 clearly!

unless you have AF-S or G lenses already the d5000 series  doesn't make sense...
it doesn't have an internal motor for focusing and it wont meter with MF lenses

well warning people that they are about to stpidly step off a cliff is a nice thing, i mean if i was dumb enough to walk blind around the grand canyon i would hope someone would be courteous enough to keep me from going overboard....

but why someone couldnt just have that basic info on their real profile with links to full stories of warnings on their personal site,  doesn't really make sense to me

its like they wanna be a white knight but they dont want people to know their a white knight smile

All my lenses are compatible with both minus the 50mm which id have to use in manual with the 5200,  but i wouldnt use auto with it anyway as it'd be for more creative stuffs.... but thats definitely a very informative link thx

I just picked up my new (used) D3

I understand the concept of....

A good photographer does not need an expensive camera to take a good image

However, the inverse of that is...

A crappy photographer can only be helped with a better camera that covers his mistakes and gives him greater latitude to be wrong in.

So I'm going to be a better (Equipped) phtographer

Congrats on the new toy Carl!

I still have a D300 that has served me fairly well.  I do have an eye on the D800 though...or whatever the D800 replacement might be....or the replacement of the D300s.  Hmmmmmmmm.  Maybe in a year or two I will upgrade?

It is a shame that people feel they have to try to bring others down rather than spend that same energy on improving themselves.

He was making stuff up about you, bashing you...was that not the point.  My point was that he should focus his energy on improving himself rather than trying to bring you down so he can feel better about himself.  Whatever the point...it is all a waste.
